Thinking of selling my G.

I have a friend who's selling his 2001 BMW M3 convertible, loaded with 2500 miles on it. He's asking around $23K for it. I'm seriously thinking of selling my G35 (2005 manual) and buying the M3. I love my car, but then again, it's for an M3.

Is this a good deal? Just wanted to get your thoughts on this before I go ahead with it.

Thanks!

Everyone is going to tell you make sure to get a warranty on it. M3 parts are very expensive to replace.

Depends if the M3 has had an engine replacement. If it has, you're covered up to 100K miles on the engine. It's a great looking car but I would be looking at a slightly newer one in that body style to avoid any serious problems.

I found this interesting. Not sure how reliable the info is but nonetheless, interesting.

Yep and so is the maintenance! If you can deal with it, go for it.

The fact that it's a 2001, I'm guessing the factory warranty is finished.

Also that was the first year with that body style so I would do some research to see if there are any common problems with the first year.

M3's dont break down that much

just like any car, parts are expensive

Its pretty obvious being a bimmer

I had a E30 (1990) that ran like a champ and NEVER needed any motor work....well sides from the routine stuff

I'm not sure about the engine replacement. I wasn't really looking for another car, but an almost-new M3 (it does only have 2500 miles on it) is making me consider it. It is a bit old, but it's in mint condition.

I'd buy it. It's only got 2500 miles on it.

It was basically a toy car...just driven on nice days. My friend is loaded...he just bought the M6, which is why he's getting rid of the M3.

I'd totally go for it. The car has extremely low mileage for an insane price.

Wow, I swear that was a typo. I figured it was 25,000 miles but that's unbelievable to have an '01 with a few trips around the block.
