Stupid tax. and MAN i owe a lot for this car.
So first things first, my friend helped me buy my G35. Since I can't negotiate worth crap and they drove me down to Texas to pick it up. So I offered to help them put $1000 down payment on their next car because the one they were driving was about to break down.
Couple days later, friends find a 2008 Infiniti EX35 that they want. It's about 30k dollars. Which, at the time, I didn't really care because they would be the ones paying for it. I gave them the $1000 and told them to pay me back later. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough credit history to buy the car. So I offered to co-sign and still have them pay. And that didn't work either. So in the end, I hesitated and shoulda gone with my instincts and said no but I was being nice/ retarded that day. So I said, hey. I can sign for the car. I also have to get insurance for the car since its under my name. And thats another $125 for that car not including my G35 insurance. Now.. on the whole note of lending money. I'm fully retarded. Cuz they moved out of their house because it was $1000 rent to something smaller like $600 rent to pay for the house AND the car. Unfortunately, same thing happened. Credit history wasn't long enough so I helped them put $600 down for their first month's down payment on the house. The stupidity finally leaves.. and logic settles in my brain.. OH MY GOD what did I just do. Time comes to collect money. They don't want to pay. Crap. I knew this was gonna happen. Damn rednecks (no offense to anyone here) So... I go to my supervisor at work and tell them the story and tell the guy's supervisor who works at the same place about it. Just to cover my *** if they decide to trash the car before they give it back. And now I have the keys to an Infiniti EX35. Fully loaded. Needing to sell it. Paid $30k. Carmax is offering $26k. Retail is still around $29-32k I already put a listing on craigslist. But yea. Just wanted to vent. Cuz now I'm down thirty some odd thousand dollars and because the car is in my name, they have no ties to it besides seeing if they'll have the integrity to pay me back after I let the supervisor know and either MAKE him pay, or deduct the money directly out of his pay check. Yeah you really made some bad decisions there. Nice guys finish last, isn't that what they say? As far as lending money to friends, the only people that ask their friends for money are the ones that are incapable or don't have the integrity to pay it back. This applies 99.9% of the time.
The best approach I've found it to tell them I will help you out once, and I don't expect you to pay me back, but never ask me for money again. Best of luck selling the car.

lol, i figured since they are in the military and stationed here at the same base as me, they cant really run from me... and we're all getting a steady paycheck so he should be able to pay me. but he kept buying more and more things along with the car. and at that rate, he couldnt pay me back. so his fiancé is pregnant, i might just have to push her down some stairs as collateral.

intentions are always good.......I'm sure they fully intended to pay you back
then when it comes time to pay the bills........their intention disappears.....and greed takes over.

My best friend needed another engine in his Integra. I fronted him $1K, so far he has paid back about $600. It has been 4 years. Credit reports are there for a reason. I will never co-sign for anything ever!

i wish it was a joke, cuz i seem to get myself into these "hilarious" situations all the time. like back in 2006 my girlfriend thought i was cheating on her, broke up with me, slept with my roommate. so i slept with her best friend. im pretty sure my life would make an awesome and funny "dont ever do this in your lifetime" book

I know how you feel man. Nice guys like us do finish last.
I co-signed for cell phone bill twice and was left paying for both bills. Over 1500. Only got half of that after going to court. Loaned another friend $500 twice within 2 years. 4 years later. All I got back was $120. Loaned another guy a couple dollars here, a $20 there and then a $100 here. Never saw any of my money back. But good news is, he's in jail for selling drugs to a undercover cop. LOL. Got a phone call a couple times asking if I would accept a collect call from "insert name" and I just said NO. lol |
