I dont mean to be rude or anything but this is what I simply do not get. You have a fully loaded G37S right, you paid a **** load of money for it and the 335i could have been yours as well, although you would have sacrificed something. Now, if you love the 335i so much, surely the choice would have been easy. You would have simply bought the 335i and the sacrifice would have been worth it right? Otherwise your choice of the g37 clearly shows that you dont think the 335i is that great to be worthy of this sacrifice.
I am beginning to get the feeling that in order to be accepted as a true sports enthusiast, one has to acknowledge the 335i's "greatness" even though this may not be what one believes. Is it possible that times have moved on, Infiniti has a great product that does its own thing its own way but just feels as great to drive as the 335i? Please dont take this as an insult, I mean no disrespect. |

Anyway, I just looked up reviews for both cars on yahoo and WOW the reviews are so different. Not one person seems to have anything or very little to say negative about the G37, but the 335i is another story. There is 6-7 total reviews and all but one is negative. Seems they spend a lot of time in the shop. The G37 looks like the better choice for reliability and long term use. The 335i seems to be better suited for lease or short term use. I can't wait to test drive these 2 cars.

One thing people have been forgetting to consider is the insurance premium. I bet the insurance companies must love those 335s.

335i if it's in yer budget and yes, you're only keepin' it until the warranty -- after that -- have fun.
otherwise -- G37 ftw

Mine has been in the shop once in 16 months (for other than scheduled maintenance), for a blown fuse (doors wouldn't all unlock). Wife dropped it off in the AM, picked it up at lunch. They changed the oil, wiper blades, filled the windshield fluid, etc etc. All covered under warranty, of course

BMW has a 4year/50,000mile maintence free warranty that basically covers everything under the sun. All oil changes and maintence is totally free.

If money is no object, get the 335i

careful with the 335i's they seem like a hit or miss. a friend of mine is on his second 335i and by the looks of it will be getting a third. while another has been fine for almost two years now.
his first 335i was an AT and the tranny died 3 times on different occations within 18 months. dealership offered him a brand new fully loaded MT for the same price as his 335i. the MT has less than 1000k and has been to the dealership twice for misfiring.

Strange, I've never read of that problem before. My 6MT is perfect, no problems.

Apparently there's a fuel pump issue with the 3.0L Turbo that BMW has not been able to resolve and it has also affected the other series that use this engine. BMW has not issued an official TSB but they have replaced a lot of fuel pumps.
At the end of the day, both the 335 and G37 are good cars and as an enthusiast, you can't go wrong with either one. Just buy Japanese or lease German.

Besides the fuel pumps some owners are also having some turbo wastegate issues.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1014571 If I had more money and could afford 2 cars I'd get a 335I and something else for my daily commute. Although I've said this in another thread. I've driven both a 335I and a 328I before I bought my Infiniti, both were 6mt's, and while the 335I is clearly faster I preferred the over-all feel or the 328I better. I just wished it had a little more power. If they still made the 330I, I would of bought one instead of my G.

It's hard not to ingnore all the problems BMW has had in the past. Not to mention that I hear a lot of past owners warn me of the repair cost in the future. I have owned Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Infiniti's cars; none have had problems. Now the Nissans had some rattles, but that was it. I really would hate to get a BMW and it turn out to be a problem child. I guess it's a gamble you take with any make and model of cars today as I know people that have had problems with every car I have had, but personally I have not. Either way, it is a tough choice. I can't wait to drive both and see for myself performance wise which is better. Good thing is, I have a few months to research both cars before making my decision.
