Dear John . er, make that Dear G37
I loved you from afar since your debut at the 2003 NYIAS, and had I the coin I would have made you mine back then.
Through the years you became a better, faster, and more desireable car, and now you have the options and compatiability to run with class leaders in your newest forms. While you were always on the top of my list, fortune never allowed me to own you, so I could only admire from afar... 2 days ago I tested the 37X sport and 37 6MT, and I really liked what I drove. But then I strayed, forgive me... ![]() I never thought she could take your place so quickly, nor did I think pushing her into corners would give me more heart pounding thrills then driving the car I had wanted to own for the last 7 years. But in 1 test drive she took my focus and my breath away, and I cannot lie, I have to have her again, I am sorry G37, but after 10 minutes with her, I have to leave you by the roadside and not look back. I never meant it to end this way. Now all I have to do is figure out how to afford her, the S5. The interior, the road manners, the romminess of her spacious cabin, those curves, those piercing LED eyes, not to mention the white knulckes of the sales rep as I threw her into a 15 mph corner at 70, but she gave right back and barely broke form. She held all the way around on the way back through that same curve at 60, what a woman. I have to have her. Signed, G- 'DID' Wannabe now searching the want ads for a slightly used 08 Audi S5. With apoligies to Infiniti and her fans, but you gotta drive one of these bad girls, plus I get a coupe, AWD, and stick in 1 car, game- set- match. |

Well written
![]() Although, I definitely expected the car to be an S2000 until you actually said it. I guess that makes it obvious what I intend to trade the G for when the time comes.

HA Ha. I was in the exact same boat as you. I looked everywhere for a good price on a S5. Ended up comming home with a G37 though. She still makes me happy though.

I would trade my G37 for a S5 in a second. But there is a big price difference.
Honestly you can pick up a 08 G37S now, loaded for 28-30k. But I couldnt even find a 08 S5 for under 45k. Best bet, get a G37 for 30k, get the GTM TT kit for 10k. Have a 600 whp monster, still less than a S5

True story, there is a lot more that goes into a car than numbers.
The S5 is a beast, hopefully she'll be yours soon.

When it came down to it, I am not sure I could actually pay the premium of an S5 over a G37, however the S5 is one sexy @ss car.

I knew the stats on the S for a while, and I even thought 354 was not high enough for a near 3,900 lb car, nor for that matter for a V8 and an "S" line model. But it can surley motivate that machine and of course the AWD was a huge vacume cleaner effect in the corners. I agree GC- she is a high price to pay, and I am not yet sure how I am going to afford it, but so far the used market is already below MSRP by 10K.
I may drive the 370Z to compare but I know it wont be apples to apples for luxury, just power and ride/handeling. Plus it would be nice to see how they each approach making a sports car since I have never driven a Z car before, and my only previous experiences driving an Audi was my brothers A6 a few years back. He had the 4.2, but again, heavy and not nearly a sports car class model. 1 thing for sure, 328 in the G37X did not feel anything like the 354 in the S5, and the S outweighs the G by almost 200 lbs. Must be wheelbase and length and suspension among other things. |

If you can afford the S5, do it. You will never regret it.

I will
I just intend to do it in a much smarter way than the G. Rather than sinking myself into debt again, I'm going to sell the G, drive the Civic for a year, and buy the S2000 cash. IMO, monthly payments take all the fun and love out of a car.

who's your buddy?????
For a buddy, you are killing me!! i cant see them enough that you have to post these great looking shots! nice rims, but i would have to go red!
I have some summer sales lined up with customers that Could make this deram a reality IF they pull the trigger, but then the question comes down to me, will i actually spend this much in a down economy on a car? I hope for the sake of being the easy way out i don't have to make that decision, maybe I sould go drive a 370 and get the A out of my mind.... |

I would get a G37 over a 370Z anyday. (I did)
I love the S5 but it is too much money. For the money, I would be looking at IS-F
