GM Sells Hummer

I wonder who it was that purchased the Hummer brand from GM?

WOW. So GM is ditching Saturn, Pontiac and Saab and selling Hummer. I can't imagine which automaker would pick up Hummer.

About time. Too many brands creates redundancy (how many vehicles under each brand are virtually identical?), excess costs, and inefficiencies. GM is moving some of the better vehicles from the brands they are getting rid of to other brands (such as the Vue being moved to Buick).

About time is right. Hummer is a completely useless brand. They were cool for about 2 months after they came out, now they are just stupid.

Saturn will also be sold I believe.

It's about time we let something that's broken break - I'm getting really tired of watching the government spend ga-zillions they don't have to save failing industries.

It's good they got $ for Hummer. I still say dumping Saturn is a mistake. They had some of the better looking cars. I hope the G8/Solistice line gets rebadged under Chevy.

The Hummer wasn't even military based anymore. Whomever bought them got a surburban or tahoe or something. lol

Also saying GM will continue to build Hummers under the new Chinese owner till at least 2010, and still produce them in the US.

It had to be done, unfortunately. Imagine the strain on the government if unemployment spiked by about 1 million people between the OEMs and suppliers - not to mention the payroll taxes lost. Either way the government spends billions it doesn't have, at least this way the landing will be softer for a lot of the people affected. And hopefully GM can re-emerge as a successful entity.

According to CNN.com, it is a Chinese corporation that is buying out Hummer.
