Ford has definitely been doing good things lately.
I think there's a market for this car, just not in my driveway.

I don't love it, but it's decent. In my eyes, what Ford has going for them, is their new Fiesta pushed them into the "purchasable" category. All other domestics are still not there. GM has the Vette, but in order for a brand to be "purchasable" there has to be something affordable in it worth buying, so Vette doesn't count.

Looking at Ford's track record over the last 5 years or so, they do have my full confidence.

I have seriously considered purchasing a Focus for my daily, and I would take a F series truck over a japanese truck any day.

That being said, I've still yet to buy a Ford, but compared to the improvements made by the Japanese companies (which is minimal), Ford has made HUGE strides in the last 5 years.

Also, keep in mind, Ford is completely afloat without the government's help.

Like it, Shane, but the one I'd like is in the $50k vicinity. A little pricey for a Ford.
Not sure where I saw that price.....In one of the mags somewhere......
Definitely like the car tho...

C.

Looks pretty good imho, but WAY overpriced for a Ford (other than a Cobra).

If you look on Ford's website, you'll see it's not $45k. According to their website, it comes loaded under $39k. Perhaps Edmunds made a mistake.

Don't overlook the tremendous emotional cost involved with telling your friends you bought a Ford.

Seems like there are a few brand snobs in here. Then again, I've read the same type of replies in Hyundai Genesis threads as well.

While I personally do not have any interest in purchasing a SHO, do you honestly feel that Ford will not sell ANY of these?? There are some people out there that buy nothing but Fords, just like there is people out there that stick to Toyota only, or Honda only, etc. You get my point.

The SHO, which is priced pretty much identical to my G, offers some great features, has AWD, and while being on the heavy side has some decent power under the hood. Again, I personally wouldn't buy one, but I really think Ford is doing some great things as of late.

Im not a brand snob...far from it actually; i have an 07 Chevy Tahoe, an 04 530i, a 99 Ram 3500 and a beater Hyundai Accent :-) I acknowledge the fact that ford has transitioned itself for the better, it will definately sell this car, but when its all said and done, it still cannot compare to its foreign rivals in terms of reliability and driving dynamics; i mean cmon the thing weighs a crapload

I'm of the same mind. The G is the maximum size car I would ever want.

I see here in Canada Ford sales are up 24.6% YOY for June and has surpassed GM by about 5000 units. GM is off 31%, toyota down 17%, Honda down 17% and Chrysler off 58%.

Shane, I think you've nailed it. The SHO probably isn't the right car for most of the people on this board but will fit the bill for some of the population. There's also no denying Ford is doing some things right and carrying some momentum now. If we could get more European and Australian content here there might be even more momentum.
