Not without modifications to the suspension and subframe. Though the 89-95 engines were build by Yamaha the rest of the SHO is all Ford.

1990-1991 - 3380lbs. Weight increase due to air bags and ABS. '91 SHO+ model slightly lighter (15 lbs.) due to fiberglass hood.
1992-1995 5-speed - 3425lbs. New body style.
1993-1995 Automatic - 3600lbs. The price you pay for shiftless driving.
1996-1999 V8 - 3490lbs. Redesign

These cars have always been a little over weight.

Performance aside, the Ford sounds like crap. Well, it doesn't actually sound like anything, it's quiet and boring.

Whoo hoo!
  • 2.2 tons of bulk.
  • 203 inches long, almost 17 feet.
  • 76 inches wide, almost 6 1/2 feet.
  • 127 feet to stop the barge from 60 mph.
  • 0.80 G's around the skidpad.
  • 62.9 mph in the slalom.

But it's got twin turbo's and direct injection

Yeah, Ford's done it again!

Glad to see a domestic nameplate producing something potentially desirable. Yes it's a bit porky & pricey, but definitely a step in in the right direction. Lots of cool tech. Obviously not going to be a favorite among most here reading these pages, but it wasn't meant to complete in this class to begin with. It gets my respect.

x2, Ford is stepping up in reliability, looks, and quality. Still not something I'd ever buy, but at least they're not being retarded like all the other American car companies.

^I wouldn't call the new CTS, Lucerne etc coming out of GM, 'retarded' cars.

I was talking about the way the companies are handling themselves, not the cars themselves. As in GM teaming up with Segway and trying to get a 2 person scooter or something stupid out that is gonna cost them millions.

Yeah, I just built one on the Ford website for giggles, and I got to $43k pretty quickly. For $28K, maybe. I would take the G8 even money, and you can get the 400+ HP G8 GXP for less than this car. Although, you cannot get factory Navi in the G8.

The Taurus has one of the worst resale values in the car industry. Now the 'SHO' might be a different story, but I would be quite cautious about spending $40K+ on a car that might be worth less than $20K next year.
