2010 Tauras SHO

What is everyone's thoughts on Ford's new Tauras, specifically the SHO? IMO, it's a pretty decent looking car inside and out and I think Ford has been doing some positive things recently.

I like the new SHO but its way over priced ~$45K and its way too heavy, its close to 4500lbs. I dont know many people that would pay that much for a Taurus. The new eco-boost engines are well built and have potential though, they just need to cut the excess weight. I liked the older SHOs (late 80s, early 90s), they weighed 1000lbs less than the new SHO, handled decent for FWD, and came with a strong Yamaha engine. Only thing Ford thing about them was the shell.

I give Ford respect for the direction they have been heading. They focused on the important stuff, restructured and ended up not borrowing from our government, I give them major props . They definitely are in a better situation than GM and Chrysler. However, I still wouldnt buy a Ford.

Front wheel drive behemoth based on a ten year old recycled Volvo platform. No thanks! I hope when they jacked the price to $45K, they upgraded interior materials beyond the infamous 500 aka Taurus. And being a Ford, I will believe terminal understeer until proven otherwise. In its 3rd iteration, the exterior doesn't completely look like it should be parked outside a retirement home. I'd take an Aussie G8 from the bankrupt guys before I'd consider the Ford Bull...sh!t er Taurus.

Actually this 4th generation SHO is AWD and promises to be a decent car. Ford has come quite a long way with their ecoboost engines and other technology.

While I do agree that it is rather big and on the heavy side I still think that Ford has come leaps and bounds.

I usually don't like to say the F word but I must agree that Ford has been making some great improvements over the last few years.
The SHO doesn't look too bad.

You're referring to the number of times Ford has stuck the SHO name on a mass market sedan. I'm referring to the number of times the current chassis has been recyled with a new wrapper of sheet metal in the last ten years. And though Ford may have stuck an AWD system in the ancient chassis, it's still derived from a Volvo front driver and the engine is mounted transversely which is to say, incorrectly. That put's much of the ponderous weight over the front wheels which are already overburdened trying to change the direction of this barge. They should have called it the Plow. And the days of stuffing a hot engine into a grocery getter and proclaiming victory at the cash register are long gone.

Where are you guys getting the $45k price tag from? MSRP here in Canada is $48k so it should be much less than in the US.

38-45K MSRP?

For a ford? Fuk that, it may be nice and all but I don't think ford is in any position to demand that much money for just a regular car. Maybe after a few years of proving themselves well they can hike up prices.

That car should go for 27K tops FULLY loaded.
