Luxury Cars
I definitely find my G luxurious with its comfy ride, beautiful appearance, and plenty of power, but what separates a "luxury vehicle" from a regular vehicle anymore? It used to be that things like leather, sun roofs, safety features, and gadgets separated the luxurious from the rest, but now Fords, Chevys, Hyundais, and everyone else has just about all of these things offered by Infiniti, BMW, Lexus, etc... It's not uncommon to see Bluetooth, 50 airbags, ABS, or comfy seats in cars from almost any manufacturer.
Are you paying for anything other than the name when it comes to luxury anymore?

Not really. A hyundai will do pretty much anything our Gs will anymore, aside from the driving excitement. But even then, from what i hear the genesis coupe takes care of that...

Class/Name/Prestige/Service/Quality has a lot to do with it.
Many things, such as leather, gadgets, extra amenities, etc. are "givens" that you assume every luxury vehicle has. But just these things itself don't separate them from the "other" cars. i.e. there are 5 year old cars with equal or less amenities that might be considered more luxurious than a brand new car with the same exact (if not superior) amenities. |

Even they offer with a lot of extra options for cheap comparing to a luxury car but the overall technology is not there. Sounds maybe similar but sit in and driving one and you will know why it cost more =) ... Lets say I sat in a loaded Accord just for shiet and giggle, then I sat in the TL and the TL wins. Sat in the new loaded Maxima, G37x and M35x = the M35 wins. Sat in the A4, A6, S6 = A6, S6 win. Sat in the Corvette and Hummer H2 and honestly all of those above cars win for the interior =)

You driven a ford fusion?
It may have leather, nav, bluetooth etc but still drives like a piece of ****. VHTRAN, Audi is renown for it's interior though, they have had the best interiors since like 92.

When I first bought my G in 2005, there were hardly any G's out there. Now, I see them everywhere. I like being different from the pack, so I guess this is a good time to start looking for an uncommon car. HHHmmm, there aren't too many Hyundai's out there.

i agree with everyone here...
although most if not all companies have finally figured it out, which luxuries consumers demand..its still in the name/design/brand. its all about the exterior i think... there's still something about the luxury names that stick...they stay on that pedastool...compared equally with the same bells n whistles..its even the difference between a companies regular vs luxury brand. camry vs es300, which one is more pimpin? same car, diff body style, label $$$ difference...GS/ES is way better looking. or nissan murano vs fx35...theres still the look n brandname that seperates it... i also think, some cars still look like Crap..and their parts feel cheap....cheap leather...cheap quality cars...u can feel it...llike something is gonna give out.LOL

Or even forgetting about names and brands, the car feels different. There is a more solid feel to everything, things are laid out clearly with everything in its place, and the materials are better throughout. I mean, the extra money does go somewhere, and I'm sure some part of it goes to better R&D and better materials.

Adding to that, those gadgets like keyless, start button, BT, Nav, Voice command (hate that damn thing, never work right for me) or things listed on those cheaper cars make ppl think why the luxury one cost way more than those cheaper ones. There are actually more little things in those luxury cars that why it cost more: adaptive head lights, speed sensing, crash sensing with auto brake, extra sensors for extra little things =) ... Better leather, better seats, better center console that can almost control anything in/on the car (base on my A6), quietness yet you can still able to hear the performance of your engine, has extra illumination running lights in the car that won't make your eyes tired out + make it look nice (base on my A6). I'm not sure about the other cars, but just found out that I can't close the trunk if I forget my key in there. Things like that add up and of course with their reputation it adds little more $$$ in there too =)
No...I haven't tried the new Fusion and I think it's crap =) |

Walk into a dealer for service...pretty much answers the question right there. Free loaner car, free car wash, coffee and food if you wait, free car pickup if you need. When you get there they kiss your ***.
Big difference between service at Infiniti, or Lexus or BMW vs Chevy or Mazda, etc.

Wrapping a metal folding chair in leather and having all the technology in the world at your fingertips does not make it luxurious...
What makes a nice, simple, luxurious couch more luxurious than a normal couch or a good ol Lazy Boy? Cars are the same, and the G or Skyline never is and never was a luxury car. It's all marketing... IMO, it's only an entry level luxury sports sedan/coupe only because it's nicer than a Sentra.
