Question Took a Trip to Local Dealer.

Ive been doing a little shopping around lately for the perfect car at the absolute best price, fortunately, i came across the car recently, just not the price. I bargained with the dealer down to 41K from 42K. He insisted that this was the "best" he can do. (09 G37xS with premium & nav). As i was about to make a decision, my eyes came across a beast parked in the back. It was an 09 Charger SRT-8. So naturally i asked about it and eventually took it for a spin. HOLY CRAP that things got TORQUE . It had less than 1K miles so it hadnt even been broken in yet. Needless to say, the car was new and monstrous. I asked for the price...he says 33K. So now ive got a lot on my head. My question would be, will i be losing anything at all if i get the Charger over the G? Is the price gap justifiable? Ofcoarse i will decide at the end but i wanted to hear some well thought out opinions from you guys.

It depends, do u like driving in a straight line, or do u go around corners sometimes? If u do, get the G

If you're more toward performance and stuff like that get the charger. Sound like you really enjoyed yourself with it. But if you're more of a sporty luxury type person i'd go with the G. If finance isn't a problem i'd go with the G. But if it is a factor go with the Charger, it's cheaper and you'll know you like it.

You either want performance or luxury, you choose!

They're both great cars! You would get more attention in the Charger...

I know it's not an SRT-8, but Mustang took Camaro SS and Challenger R/T in C&D comparison: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

Then 370z took the Mustang GT: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=143666

The 370z also took the RX-8, 135i and Solstice GXP: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

It barely lost to the Cayman S, which is nearly double the price: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=3

370z pulls .98g's in some tests, but the Challenger only pulls .87 g's.

370z is the best performance car for the money.

Doesn't seem like the G35/37's hold much of a value either.

The Charger would hold me back with the gas milage. but its not like my G35 gets that good of milage anyhow.

If you had more fun driving the Charger... then Get it... If your making the payments on a car, you better make sure you enjoy driving it.

If you want torque from a G change the final drive and leave everything else stock then see who gets off the line first. The Chargers/Magnums are big heavy cars and good for straight line performance. A G is well rounded. I can take a right turn going 60+ without losing the G. I would lose the Charger going 40.

chargers just isnt a straight line performance. Its known for that but by swapping out sways and lowering make the SRT8 an all around car.

My G only gets 2-4mpg. better than our SRT8. Now I had an intake and exhaust put on it for Mike and my car is completely stock so I don't know if that makes any difference.

I do get quite a few looks in the Charger, but it might be due to the exhaust sound.

Tough decision as they are completely different cars. I actually scared the salesman when we test drove the Charger, that thing does move!

I can do that to a lighter car and it will still handle better just because it weighs less. And the Charger is only offered with a 5 speed automatic which is boring and not reliable if you push the car.

True, but my point was stating the charger just isnt a straigh line car.

the Mopar Charger is used as a drifting car, so there is parts out there to make it handle better.

5spd auto is more than capable of holding its own. its already with standing 420 lbs of torque. 5spd auto but also has a 5spd manual stick, just like the G

The 370z and the G37 weight difference is huge that's why it's faster than all the cars you listed. The 370z 6MT is 3200+ lbs and the G37 6MT is 3662 lbs. So the 370z would be better compared with the Charger.

I understand that it can handle torque. But how many downshifts can it handle going around a track before it overheats and takes a dump on the track?

well from my exp. racing them back in my SRT4 days (Track). SRT8's NA's/Supercharged on stock tranny were all driving home by the end of the night.

maybe they do have weak trannys but I've never owned one. I just know from my experiance racing them.
