Nissan Quest

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone in this forum owns one of these. My 03 G35 sedan has held up well, and was considering a 07/08 Nissan Quest for the family (twin 3 month olds and a two year old). Basically I wanted to know the pros and cons of this vehicle as a family hauler.

I ruled out 2006 Sienna's and Odessy's due to their high resale value. I was looking to spent under 16k. Also considering 08 Caravan SXT, as well as the 2008 Town & Country Touring model.

They aren't bad, the drivers seat tends to feel a little squished if you're taller/wider guy. I don't think they have had any major issues.. They are very safe with 6 air bags and all that. So I would say, yea good family vehicle.

You already love the engine but remember it WANTS premium gas. Doesn't need it, but it is recommended.

The caravans/town and country drive terribly. Have you considered the ford windstar?

I haven't really gave the Windstar any consideration. I have drove the 2005+ GM minivans and I was not impressed. So much wind noise I thought a window in the back was rolled down.

One of my best friends has an 08 Quest, and so far he has loved it. It's not my type of vehicle so I've never driven one, but he's had it for almost 2 years and he's loved it and has no problems with it thus far.

My Parents recently sold their second Windstar due to copious mechanical reasons. Also, both of them rode nothing better than a hay wagon. Also, I had the unfortunate pleasure of renting an 07 Caravan for business. Seriously, what POS. The tranny was jerky as hell, it stalled on me a number of times, and like the Windstar, rode horribly harsh.

I know that everyone has their own tastes and preferences, but if I was in the market for a multiple passenger vehicle I'd get an SUV in a heartbeat over a Minivan. Plus, SUVs will offer AWD or 4WD so it's much safer than FWD (although it might not matter depending on where you live). Again, just personal preference though so just take it with a grain of salt.

Id get an SUV as well. I got to drive an 07 GMC Yukon SLT today. Man that thing was FUN to drive LOL. Loved it.

BUT i was just talking about this the other day. If i HAD to get a minivan, i would not hesitate to get a Quest. I think it looks the best, has a reliable engine, and has a funky cool interior.

Id love to get one and greddy TT it, full exhaust, black with black rims and a chrome lip, maybe some springs, blacked out windows, black out the trim grill debadge etc and just make a total sleeper minivan haha

Thank you for the feedback. I have thought of getting any SUV with a 3rd row...but the only one I can think of (07+ w/ less than 50k) for under 16k is a Dodge Durango.

local G guy just sold his 07 coupe and picked up an 06 Trailblazer SS loaded for 13.5k. Granted, its got 77k, but he didnt sacrifice any fun.

And yea, i'd stay away from a Dodge Durango. Arent very quality vehicles. Get a Nissan Quest over that.

We did have an 08 Quest. Loved it. I'd opt for the SE version with full power doors. and rear moon roofs.

I also have 3 kids. 1 was an infant at the time. Access for the infant is very easy.

Rides very well and smooth. The on board display usually read around 18-20 MPG's.

Since you have small children, I'd recommend a van over an SUV. It's a lot easier to get them in and out with the bigger sliding doors. You don't have to worry about swinging the doors open with the sliding doors when parked in tight spots. Just hit the button on your key FOB and the doors slide open, kids hop in. Doors are also controllable from inside the cabin. The access is also a lot lower than an SUV and car seats can get heavy. Very helpful especially with infants. Trust me.

Trunk space. We had a large stroller which fit fine when laying on it's side. The rear trunk has a deep well that helps a lot.

Although, I do think the Odyssey (Touring and EX-L) and Sienna (XLE) are nicer. Your right about the high price.

I have a fully loaded 07 SE. One piece of advise, "do not get the PAX tire system"! The only place that can replace or repair the tires are Honda dealerships. Each tire costs $350 to replace and they wear very quickly. Honda's are having the same issues. Mine were completely bald on the outer tread at 11k! Nissan said it was because I didn't rotate the tires at 8k. (yeah 3k extra did this) I purchased new rims and tires and the were chuncked up/feathered at 3k. I have had it aligned at 3 different shops, including Nissan and all of them said the alignment was "perfect". Luckily the 2nd set of rims weren't true and Discount Tire Direct let me upgrade the rims to a nicer set. I have 4k on these tires and the fronts are already chunked/feathered and again the alignment is "perfect".

The in cabin air filters are a complete pain in the *** to change as they are located directly behind the center of the dash and it requires you to take out the glove box and the amplifier. It's extremely difficult to get the new filters in (almost impossible) several people have reported that they took it to the dealer to have this done at a huge expense and found the dealer never put new filters in. I assume because of the difficulty. The sun roof had some leak problems at first, but I haven't had the issue. Where the seat belt attaches to the side of the vehicle has worn grooves because of it's poor design. It's a known issue. After a while it literally cuts groves through the plastic. It doesn't require premium, but it is recommended and will give you an additional 10hp.

Although this sounds ominous, other than this it has been a very reliable nice vehicle. We test drove all of them. The Sienna was very nice, but it had alot of body roll and had no connection with the road. You also had to buy an expensive 3-4k package to get the backup camera. The Sienna was the most "luxurious" of them all and if I had to do it over again, this would be on the top of my list. The Odyssey drove really nice. Actually it was equal to the Quest if not slightly better in the road manners and road feel. We hated the dash layout inside and didn't like the access to the 3rd row. Surprisingly the Hyundai was very nice. Unfortunately there was no option for a backup camera and the second row seating was high and my head was touching the roof (I'm only 5'11". Access was poor. Overall the Hyundai was very nice though. I haven't driven the Chrysler, but it has every option you could ever want in a family hauler. I would give it a strong look as great deals can be had. A coworker of mine just got a fully loaded top of the line for 29k!

Am i the only one that thinks it looks the best?

For a Minivan, that is pretty sharp looking. You can also get an orange/black interior color combo. SICK. Thats in a van!

Sienna Looks so generic...
