Ever heard of the freeway?

I don't know very many owners willing to abuse their cars going from a dig.

Yeah some people do it but the fact is an 80 roll is not that common. Nobody said from a dig, you could always do a rolling start at let's say 60 40 or dare i say a 20?

Listen your obviously going to get biased responses from the driver here. I'm one of the very few who appreciate the G35 for what it is, a luxury coupe. If you want a more dedicated track car then go get that evo, and if your'e planning to mod its a no-brainer; an evo is way more mod friendly than a G or even an STi. A G no matter how much money you dump into it will never give you the drive that an evo does(I've spent years in a group of friends that are evo junkies) Go to evolutionm.net and i guarantee not one person on that board will tell you to keep your G. It's just the way it is. Hope I've helped

You actually do 80+mph rolls? Meaning that you START at 80mph? How fast do you go to decide the winner? 140? 160?

You don't have to race from a dig, you could always do 20mph roll and you don't have to go 140mph to decide who won.

I'm not disagreeing...but you have to remember that he has to give up his G PLUS $6K. So you have to compare a bone stock Evo to a G35 with $6K into it. While they will still not be able to compete ( the G35 being a luxury coupe while the Evo is a gocart from hell ) the G35 will uterlly destroy the Evo in a straight line to say the least.

Now...the op has to decide what is it that he wants. They just aren't comparible...and frankly I love both of them.

He may be giving up 6k now, but X years down the road, the Evo will still be worth more; historically the Evo has held value a lot better than a G.

Compared a 03 Evo8 vs a 03 G coupe for example. Or a 06 Evo vs a 06 G coupe.

Keep in mind the G cost a bit more to begin with.

Evo's can't hit 160 Not stock anyways. Depending on the year/trim, this would land the evo in 3rd or 4th gear. Because there's less shifting involved, power and aero become a much bigger factor; the driver mod is less important.

Thanks for the help so far. Looking into the STI as well now. No longer looking at the MR (dual clutch auto) evo but the GSR (manual) one instead because the GSR is easier to mod. This also makes the EVO almost a straight swap for my G in terms of $. I will definitely be sinking another 5-10k into mods for the next car. I want something that is fast around the track and less soft than the G. I looked into modding the G, but it seems like it won't catch a modded evo/STI without some extremely serious work.

Good choice my friend. Happy modding. Although an STi is easy to mod they can never unlock their true potential unless you get a cosworth block and a big turbo which cost bank. An evo already has an excellent motor that can handle tons of power for much cheaper. It's gunna be hard to decide when you can't test drive new evos lol i know it sucks but the key is trying to find a used one and test drive it. I'm sure youll be happy with either.

Excellent choice.

If you are planning on dumping that much into the car, you can't go wrong with either car; all the "advantages and disadvantages" of either car become moot once coils and bolt-ons come into play.

I dunno...I have a good friend that has an STI ( older model ) in the mid 10's with a little over $5K invested...stock motor and stock drivetrain ( except clutch ).

That's incredible, props to him. A lot of the guys I know that have 10 second stis have GT35rs and cosworth blocks. The drivetrain on STis are incredible though where as thats where mitsubishi lacks as far as reliability but makes up for it with that 4G63 mmmm.

Apparently the stock STI engine is capable of 500+awhp. He had 475whp when he ran mid 10's and had about 150lbs in weight reduction with slicks all around ( 1.4 60ft times FTW! )
