NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
Okay now that I have your attention...
What if .................. Infiniti designed a 2 seater similar to the SC430 Lexus. It would be a sexier, sleeker than the G35 coupe, a little larger, more luxurious version of the Z and would be like Infiniti's version of BMW's 645. Imagine using the 4.5 V8 engine to power it, all wheel drive, quad exhaust, comes in a hard top or convertible, 6 speed or auto, two tone leather interior and with the newest technological advancements. Oh, the trunk will be able to accomodate two sets of golf clubs. I think that would be a really sweet car. How much? Lets say 46K base, loaded 54K. Compare the others in this category. If Infiniti could pull this off, this car could be a interesting entry with its competitive pricing. The car would have styling to attract the young as well as more mature drivers who want a truly refined sporty but luxurious automobile. What do you think? |

Nope, I have never seen it. I thought my fantasy car would be a nice new piece in the Infiniti puzzle.
If you know any good sites where I can learn more about this, please forward. Thanks Dknibb |

There's already info that the M45 will be available in coupe form (not sure about convertible, though).

Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
I like the idea. I think Infiniti needs a convertible model to be competitive in the luxury arena. Think about it - every other luxury car brand has a convertible model. Infiniti is the only nameplate without one.

Z06ified,
thanks for the response, finally someone who appreciates my genious. I lamented over this idea. At one time I wanted to design cars but went another career direction. I am also surprised more people did not repsond to this post. Imagine what a car like that would do for Infiniti. Maybe not like the G35 but it would continue to have people raising eyebrows about where Infiniti is heading. Well it was just an idea. Thanks DKnibb |

Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
I think Infiniti needs a convertable but, one like the SC430 is NOT the direction to go in. (I dont even think the new SC is doing anything for Lexus.) Now a G35C vert would be SWEET!!!
If anything, the new M45 will firmly establish Infiniti's direction. 2002 Maxima SE (auto) - Trust Tower Strut Bars - Falken Ziex ZE-512s (definite mod) - Cattman Y-pipe Best time to date: 14.725sec@93.04mph w/60'-2.169 Englishtown - 9/7/02 (Stock setup) |

F23A4, In response to
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- one like the SC430 is NOT the direction to go in. (I dont even think the new SC is doing anything for Lexus.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally I abhor the looks of the SC430, I used that car to help describe a similar type car. The SC430 is a combination of luxury first and fair amount of horsepower second (I think 300 hp) Just imagine a car different than the G35 coupe but near or on the scale of BMW645 for about 50K. Read my description again two tone interior, 340 hp etc. Well its just a fantasy... All the best DKnibb |

Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
The M45 based convertible will be that last piece of puzzle Infiniti needs. V8, Convertible, Luxury, Sexy, Stylish.... They better fix that rear end on the M45 Convertible.
I think what Nissan/Infiniti really needs is a lightweight convertible sport car. Something that can compete with the new Mercedes SLK class or Z4. Smaller than the G35C or Z, lightweight, <3000lb with convertible. Set the price at below $30k and I think we will have a real winner. ![]() CPV35 G35C Maliblue |

Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
I personally think you are totaly correct, they need a couple of things that they can add over the next 3-4 years..
1 being a new Q sedan..change that front please.. 2 a large sized v8/v10 powered coupe priced around 50-60k for v8 and 70-80k for v10 competing with 6, SC and CLK, XLR more luxurious and roadster styled hardtop/softtop than GTR 3 a smaller than G sedan/Coupe sized sedan/coupe pair priced max at 28k about 10k less than the G... 4 GTR which will be pure performance..probably around 60-70k(coming in late 07/08) 5 fx55 around 60-70k competing with Cayanne Turbo(=450hp) and FX55s competing with Cayenne Turbo(S=500hp) 6 a mid sized suv more on the lines of an FX but bigger with smaller 3rd row optional seats..to compete with GX and more and ofcourse correct those problems please...no more issues when your car is only 1 year old.. is this too much to ask for ?? Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
Intresting you mentiong something about the FX55. I rember someone posting about that about 6months ago or something. They gave a link to someones cardomain profile where they claimed they had an FX55. Midsize suv would be something like the Qx4 or the 2005 Pathfinder.

Now see you took it to a whole different level. I like your ideas. I totally agree with improving the looks or the front especially for the Q45. Better looks would definitely improve sales. Currently it lokks like an old man.s car. As for your other suggestions, Those projection would cost a whole heap of money and would catapult Infiniti sales. The current QX56 is not appealing at all. I wish they could change the front. All in all great ideas. Thanks for responding DKnibb |

Re: NEW CAR from Infiniti (read here)...
The Q45 went from being one of the most popular mid-luxury models in the early 90's to one of the most obscure. That car needs a MAJOR overhaul aesthetically in order to compete. The likelihood of Infiniti producing a V10 ever is virtually zero. The major competition for Infiniti in the luxury market is Lexus and Acura. Neither of them have V10's and they both sell like hotcakes.
The people who are buying European makes are buying cars for a different reason and the cars are of a different breed. I looked on the Mercedes website today and they are producing 42 different models simultaneously (including engine combinations) while Lexus produces 9. The Japanese car companies are running laps around European makers in profitability for this exact reason. Producing 42 cars is simply inefficient and not cost effective. They understand that it is better to produce 9 items of nearly perfect quality than to produce 42 things of marginal quality. Infiniti is going in the right direction. They have a good reputation and with these new models on the drawing boards will become a powerhouse. Lest we forget that 8 years ago Nissan was on the verge of complete financial failure and are now basking in the wake of several successful models all combining aggressive styling with class-leading performance. Keep up the good work. I love my car )![]() 2004.5 Black on Black 6MT, Aero, Premium, Navi "You can live in your car but you can't drive your house"
