300C Impressions

Drove a Hemi powered 300C. I wont go into how big and nice the interior is other than to say it's nicely appointed - tasteful and reminds me of a Fury in size and dash configuration. The plane that runs from the guages to the nose of the car is immense and quite reminiscent of older cars.

Nice mercedes feel over bumps - pretty good steering feel. Nice power if you are in the right gear...but I WANT MY G BACK 3 minutes into the drive. As much as I hope a friend of mine buys this thing...The hemi has a lot of weight to throw around and when it gets 440 hp i'll be back at the dealer again to drive it. Until then - my modded G is more responsive and while the hemi may match it off the line - the highway is owned by my G.

Re: 300C Impressions

Sweet I want to know how the SRT-8 drives. Did you notice the engine turn of 4 of its cylinders to save gas as it promises? Good thing you didnt driver the Crossfire SRT-6 I hear is a real dissapointment for the price.

Re: 300C Impressions

Similar impressions for me. On the road, the 300C feels big and heavy. Very impressive for a Chrysler though! Similar impression on the test track (Gold Medal Tour). Also, I expected more off the line from the HEMI. The up-coming (SRT-8) version should be a lot better all round though.

The Crossfire (didn't get a chance to drive the SRT) was quite impressive on the handling track. Under-tired though. Because of it's size, it's really quite responsive. Very solid feeling and even has real M-B door latches! A bit cramped in the interior, especially in the coupe. Felt great on the cabrio with the top down though!

Re: 300C Impressions

I seriously considered the 300C, but in the end, I decided that I should try my hand at my first import vehicle. I found the 300C a bit dissappointing on highway speed acceleration, however the ride and handling for a car that size was excellent, and much better than any other full size american car out there. I liked this car much better than the Mercury Maurader, which is another fun car to drive, except its weight, and the fact that the chassis is probably 20 years old. The 4 cylinder shut off on cruising speeds was nearly not noticeable. Cabin was quiet and the one thing I really enjoyed about the car, is the stately feel it gives you when you first drive it. Sort of a "hey, I'm important enough to drive a car his big" feeling.

The interior design was a bit plain and 'safe', however a big upgrade from what Chryslers usually do.

People who enjoy the older large american v8 cars maybe dissappointed by its firmer ride. All in all, I can't wait until the SRT model comes out. I hear its 6.1 litres?

WOW...

Re: 300C Impressions

Yeah they said 6.1 from 5.7. and 110 more ponies. I didn't like the pickup either - you had to kick it with your spurs to get it to move once going. Not the G automatic for sure but moe like a mercedes. Smooth power and smoother deliver. As such the SRT-8 will should have better tranny program and tuning as well as suspension upgrades and all that POWER. Not sure if that power goes too well with a car that sized tho. Its large and not as fun to turn as what I'm used to but maybe if we start having gremlins...who knows.

Re: 300C Impressions

I never notices the switch to 4 cylinders..I was on it the whole time trying to get the tranny to shift down and show me the Hemi. Nice to drive into a chrysler dealer and even care whats on the lot. My mom had a 2.2 lebaron in 1986. Turbo power was amazing until the tranny died at 20k. Not

Wow, average of 5 days on the lot? I guess there's no dealing on 300C's huh? MSRP or go home.

Re: 300C Impressions

MRSP or go home! When it first was released, and there wasn't that much hype on the Hemi engine in the media, I got a quote that was a few hundred dollars below MRSP, and I got the line "Listen, if you are serious, and when you want this car, we'll talk about getting you a good deal of MRSP to close it up. Think about it."

That was when I was just kicking tires for information on which car I wanted. 4 months later, when it came time to decide, and all the media hype was going on, MRSP or even higher was the line from every dealership.

Has anyone driven the V6 300? I never took that into consideration, but I need a new affordable sedan to drive around in?

Re: 300C Impressions

I used too have the 300M, that has exactly the same 3.5 engine in the new V6 300C, not bad, decent power.

Re: 300C Impressions

There is no V6 300C; the 300 Limited has a V6. The 300C has a Hemi V8.

Re: 300C Impressions

Okay, let's split hairs...Three models of the Chrysler 300 have V6 engines, not just the Limited, and two of these models utilize the 3.5L

Chrysler 300 = 190HP 2.7L 24-Valve V6
Chrysler 300 Touring, Limited = 250HP 3.5L 24-Valve High Output V6
Chrysler 300 C = 340HP 5.7L 24-Valve Multi-System Displacement Output HEMI V8

Here, here....hooray for splitting hairs. And by the way, if I want too call the 300 with the V6 a 300C I will. They're all crap anyway.

Re: 300C Impressions

Yes, this is correct...the 300 2.7L V6 is very, very slow (like a turtle ;-), the 300 3.5L V6 is just as quick (or slow) as the old 300M (0-60 in about 7.4 sec.), and the 300C 5.7 V8 Hemi would be the only challenge for the G35 (as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mi. speed goes; top end is still limited to about 120 mph).

I've smoked a few 300's and Magnums with the 3.5 V6 255 HP...it's funny seeing the bewildered and frustrated looks on the Dodge drivers' faces when they can't keep within a few car lengths of my G35...ha ha ;-) It would be interesting with a 300C though (on a straightaway that is; if I took a turn, I'm sure I'd lose the 300C since they don't handle well ;-)
