Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
Is the 4Runner all new? (I haven't seen anything about a new 4Runner) If not, wait a year then get the Pathfinder. I went with my brother on a test drive earlier this year in a 4Runner and I seriously felt like I was riding in a boat. Of course, I had test driven a Pathfinder years ago for my wife (then girlfriend) and that felt totally like a boat too. If the new Pathfinder feels like a boat you should go for the Murano, Highlander, or maybe the Pilot. I can't stand vehicles that body rolls while going straight.

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
The 05 4runner has 270 hp and 330 lb/ft of torque from 's iForce v8 *bows down* whereas the pathfinder has 270 hp and 291 lb/ft torque from 's v6. That...and i like toyota's more ^^" (I own a 99 4runner...i put that car through all kinds of shiz and have never done any maintenence on it cept oil changes (77k miles rite now) and it still runs as strong as day 1). 4runner is the way to go.

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
Well its sorta new, the new model was introduced as 2003 model. I Still prefer the look of the 96-02 4runner limited over most Suv's.

The new 4Runners get pricey with options. For a few thousand dollars more you can have a Pathfiner Armada.

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
I test drove a Pathfinder and it felt good. Sturdy a little tipy on shorp aggressive turns but as expected. Top heaviness was more pronounced by the fact that I had just finished driving my G. Nice quiet interior. I like the exterior styling of both but I like the Nissan better. I like the VQ engine. I have yet to drive a 4Runner but I like everythingelse about it better (reliability rating, Interior quality, the fact that you don't have to buy entire packages but you can get specefic options etc)

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
I've driven the new 4Runner with the V6 and thought it was pretty peppy and probably sufficient for most duties except for heavy towing. However, I didn't care much for the interior design (the HVAC controls in particular).
I was seriously thinking of a Honda Pilot as a replacement for my '96 Grand Cherokee V8 with bolt-on mods (intake, exhaust, performance ECU - est. 290 hp/350 lb-ft of torque), 3" lift, and 31" tires. Then I got interested in the 4Runner but I really like the new Pathfinder. 2004.5 Diamond Graphite/Graphite G35 6MT Sedan Premium Package • Navigation • Splash guards • 350Z intake duct • Stillen high-flow airbox • Underbody diffusers |

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
I like the Honda Pilot's too. They're comfortable, pretty quick ('05 has 255HP now), and fuel effiecient. Only problem is you can't tow anything over 4,500 lbs.

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
The Pilot is a basically just a 4WD minivan (Odyssey) and is a good alternative for those who'd rather not be seen in a minivan and/or need 4WD. It's a great bargain (fully loaded at less than $35K). However, if you need to tow a medium or large boat, you'd better look elsewhere. Also, if you intend on doing any serious off-roading, you should consider a Pathfinder or 4Runner instead.
Another drawback to the Pilot is that you can't get the navigation system with the DVD entertainment option (it's one or the other, unlike the MDX where you can get both). If you have kids, and tend to get lost, both are needed. 2004.5 Diamond Graphite/Graphite G35 6MT Sedan Premium Package • Navigation • Splash guards • 350Z intake duct • Stillen high-flow airbox • Underbody diffusers |

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
In reply to:Yea, I don't understand why you can't have both of those options. My only guess is that Honda doesn't want the "fully loaded" price to get over $35K. |

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
I was also surprised when I just "built" a 4Runner on Toyota's website and couldn't find an option for a navigation system. I thought the 4Runner had both. If not, then the Pathfinder gains a few more points for me (although I wish the LE also had the Hill Decent and Hill Assist that the SE Off-Road has).

Re: 05 Pathfinder vs 04/05 4Runner
The 4runner has those pkgs...it's just it's not a popular option in your area. You noticed how you put in a zip code? It only shows popular options in your area. You can always go to the dealer and customize one on your own. Also, don't be fooled by the msrp. My friend's dad got a 40k limited v8 4x4 one for like 37 out the door or sumthin. They always give fatty discounts since they aren't in high demand. My dad's 99 SR5 4x4 loaded had a sticker of 32k+ but he got it for 31k out the door.
