Re: 04' cobra mustang

you would need a little more that a greddy tt to beat a 04 cobra (stock), if the cobra is lightly modified; forget, it you would have to spend way more money than just tt or sc.

Re: 04' cobra mustang

get some twisty roads in the racecourse and you can at least go faster in those sections. but then he'll blow by you on the straightaways.

stock cobra(04) they put down 390 to the wheels, and pull around a 12.7 or so stock! i have seen stock G's go around 14.2 stock, please correct me if i'm wrong, i would say you would need all the bolt ons and an excellent tuned SC or turbo and a very very good driver to make it a close race!! Bt i would picka Stock G over the 03+ cobra any day, looks 10X better and much more class, which is why i am selling mine and picking up a G as soon as possible.. Sweet cars

My last car was the 03' Cobra, same as 04.
Hardly any stock Cobra's around. Most have bought this car due to a built motor from Ford, I believe it is the only built motor they have put out, at least in the last decade or so. Stock, it dyno's 350-355hp, that's from 390 at the crank. First week I had it, I put $900.00 into it. Guess what it dyno'd at? 473hp and 492TQ at the wheels. This was not on a cold day either. Here are the parts I got with 900, Intake (Mass Air), Tuner, and a 6lb pulley and dyno run/tune. This was a mild tune, not not lean dangerous race tune.
I ran a 12.04 once at Gainseville FL with a mis shift into 3rd with stock tires. MPH in the 1/4 was consistently 121-124. 60', not 0-60mph, but 60' was consistent 1.81-1.89 which is not bad for stock tires at all. 1/8th would break the 100mph mark. So if your what I call an Avid Drag enthusiast at an actual Drag Strip, you know what this all means off the line and from a roll. 03-04 Cobras are much harder to launch due to the independant rear suspension.

Believe it or not, they handle very good for a 3800 lb car. I took mine autocrossing as well, never had traction through the entire course 40-50second) but this was done on purpose. Through turns, the Cobra handles very very good. Sliding is slower but my times were on par with all the smaller cars. Mustangs have no top end? This car comes with a T-56 tranny, very strong tranny. On a back road, this car reached 175 with plenty of room to go. 5th gear on this car is called "Kill gear" due to the pull and how much mph you get. Once I added the 373 and full exhaust (removing 4 cats), it pulled ever so hard. Everyones response wehn they went for a ride was the same "Oh ****!!!!!!". This was not some drag only car, this was a reliable street vehicle. Many import guys nickname 03-04 Cobra's as the Domestic Supra. Since it has such a strong tranny and very top end oriented.

Only time I ever lost in the street against a "street car" was due to my own driving, not enough throttle control, 1st and second, anytime you you even blip the throttle a little too much, it would spin and the back end would swing out.

So my opinions on beating the Cobra with a G35??? That's probably one of the last cars you want to try to get a race with. I don't recall meeting more than 5 Cobras that were still stock.

Now, I know some of you will wonder why I got rid of her and got the G35? I've always been an import fella, the G35 to me is a good all around car, luxury, style, handling, straight away power, well, let's just say it's very hard to be satisfied coming from a car 300+hp S2000 turbo, then to an STI that pulled 12.69 with just an exhaust, then to the Cobra. The only reason I am ok with it, is that I am into Sportbikes as well, I am on my tenth one now which is the CBR1000rr. My last two bikes were the 01'GSXR1000 and the 04'ZX10r, and yes, these are all cusotmized with mods as well.

Sorry for such a long post but hopefully this helps and saves you from some embarrassment. Keep in mind, if this guy with the Cobra is an idiot with a heavy foot, then you may beat him off the line for a short distance, definitely don't run him from a roll. These cars pull extremely hard in "ANY" gear. I've got a video at home at the drag strip on a couple of runs, also at the autocross. And 1 video running another smililar modded Cobra as well from a roll. Just don't know how to post it on here.....

PS - the name SloG35 comes from a car club we had in Jacksonville SloPok. We were all into performance only, no cares about the looks. Thats why I have carried the names on web forums as SloS2kTurbo, SloSti, SloSVT, and now SloG35

hey slow35, i'm pretty sure the factory specs are 390 RWHP not flywheel, and that is why it seemed you gained so much from those mods!!

No manufacturer states RWHP. All hp/tq specs are net at crank. Oh, and 390hp is the correct rating.
