The New RSX

So I was reading up on the new RSX Type S (see link below if you are interested). It's not a bad looking car really, but I never realized how gutless this car is....well maybe gutless is a little extreme....but has 210hp and next to no torque whatsoever (143 ft-lbs). I have never came up on one with my G, but we must be able to just kill these cars. Anyone have the personal pleasure of spanking one of these??

Re: The New RSX

Some RSX owners claim that all they need is a Hondata Intake to beat a stock G. Whatever that is, it must be good.

Nissan Aluminum Pedals

Re: The New RSX

gutless? i think it's a pretty decently quick car. and for a small 2.0L N/A 4-banger those numbers are pretty impressive. have u ever driven one? granted, it's not as torquey as the G but when you're carrying that much less weight, 143ft-lbs is not that bad.

Re: The New RSX

Nope, have never driven one...so I have no personal experience with the RSX. Maybe they are quicker that I think they are.......

Re: The New RSX

The RSX is a pretty good $20k car. Kind of hard to compare it to the G35 in terms of price and performance. (sort of like G35 vs M3 debates). I've driven the older RSX and it's a fun little car to drive, but it doesn't have a lot of get-up-and-go due to the low torque.

I actually owned one with an injen cAI, dc header, comptech exhaust, hondata reflash # 2, and many suspension mods. I was pushing nearly 200 hp at the dyno. It was pretty fast, but I got tired of the 4 cyl and wanted a more professional car so to say so i picked up the 2005 g35..

I'd rather get an SRT-4 for that price.

Between the SRT-4 and RSX, the SRT-4 has better acceleration. But the RSX has a MUCH better interior, looks, probably reliability and resale value. I buy my cars based on the overall package (which is why I own a G35c).

Werd, those cars have a lot of bang for the buck. Even though they're Neon's they still dominate every sport compact out there performance wise.

RSX is a better all around car. As for the low torque number, percentage wise compare it to some other revvers, like say, a Modena, or an Elise. Same game, smaller displacement thus reduced weight, big hp, big revs, small(er) torque. Row the box, that's what it's all about. I've had the opportunity to drive both the superneon and the Type S, and as well give both some humility on the highway (I don't put much stock in 0-60's). In one case you're driving an Acura (albeit entry-level). In the other, you're sitting in a Chrysler, an econobox entry level one at that (albeit a very quick and raw one.) Neither are in the same snack bracket as the G. Two years from now I'd like to see the condition of some used ones. You decide.

Canadian Driver gets me... Why do you need a fast car in Canada, nobody speeds, or even goes fast.

You can't call a car gutless just by its hp and torque numbers. It comes down to weight and how the car's gearing puts the power to use.

I had a 2000 S2000 with "only" 153 lb-ft of torque and it was quicker than my G35 6MT. Even its top-gear acceleration was equally as good if not better.

when i had my Eclipse GSX awd turbo ran 14.8 stock, i beat several rsx-s but not by much, stock for stock w/ the G35 no doubt a win.. but slight mods to those small cars and they are beasts... the hondata is a huge performance mod and full exhaust opens them up nicely, all in all, G35>rsx-s looks and performance out the box.. but mods wise, the rsx is better and takes well to mods easier then the G!! Still take the G any day cause the luxury and style is un matchable!
