Dodge Viper or Acura NSX?

While watching some car show on the SPEED channel this past week, I saw a comparison between a Viper and an NSX. They said either car three or four years old could be had for about the same price, around $40,000. Some of the people interviewed said they would get a used Viper because of its raw power. While others said they would get the Acura NSX because of its styling and refinement.

If I had a three year old Viper in excellent shape in front of me and a three year old NSX in excellent shape in front of me, I'd have a tough time choosing. I think the NSX would win, though. The power would be nice as would having a convertible, but the styling on the NSX is far too cool, plus I think the NSX would be more reliable over the years and hold its value better.

So which would you get?

I'd get a Viper hands down, theres nothing like having all that power under your right foot. NSX doesn't really do anything for me even a Supra appeals to me more.

Viperrr

There is no comparison with a V6 NSX to a V10 Viper that has a package called the Venom package which puts it to 0-60mph in 2.3seconds....now which one would you want....

I agree, and calen its def. the Hennessey package TT kit your talking about, they make the best kits and products for the Viper although those #'s are what they claim, they will never get those times, way too much power! Fastest viper ive seen with 800+ hp and torque, TT'd was 3.5 with messed up traction, it can def be under 3 without a ?, 0-100 is 6 seconds, something crazy also! Look in the new car and driver for 15,000 HP slugfest

Got to be the Viper for me.
The NSX was nice some years ago, but now it's a little long in the tooth.

Not really the same animal. Well, one is named for an animal, but I digress...Both enjoy supercar status but I really don't think this a great comparison.

Hands down the VIPER... If you put both side by side on the driving down the street, which one do you think will get the most stares?

Talking

The power of the Viper is certainly appealing, but as an all around car that would be my daily driver, I'd choose the NSX. Where I work, I see the occasional Viper and NSX, and to me, the NSX still has great exotic looks.

I know it is not as "cool" and that there are a lot of vette haters out there, but, from a performance standpoint, buy a used vette and spend the $$ saved on moding the vette. It'll be a better performance car than either for the same $.

If I had to choose between the Viper and NSX, I'd choose the Viper. The NSX is old. It needs a redesign and more HP. For the price, it doesn't compare with the other cars. I'd spend the same money on a Lexus LS430 before I'd buy an NSX.

Viper for sure unless it had to be my daily driver. In that case it would be the NSX. I loved the NSX for the first 3-4 years it was out but it's a bit dated now. The next generation on '06 will probably be something worth waiting for.
The viper would provide the brutal power, handling and some of the rawness our G does not provide. It also still has a fair bit of bling factor especially around this part of the country since there are very few of them.

Viper.

I drove one (for about 3 minutes) and it was absolutely insane. That thing shot flames out the exhaust pipes when you would mash the pedal. And it was so friggen LOOOUUUDD. The torque.... the acceleration was so intense it felt like a rubber mallet to the forehead.

The Viper is insane. I want one.
