Relatives Cars

Just curious as to what kind of cars there are sitting in your driveway other than your G. My sisters are both grown and moved away, but one of my favorite times is when they are in town for holidays and the driveway looks amazing..This Christmas I'll see:

Sister's 2003 Lexus Is300 (I told her it was going to be my next car, and then she decided to get it...Thankfully she did cause if she hadn't, I never would have even considered the G)
Sister's 98 Acura CL 3.0
Mom's 2003 BMW 325i (Passed 78,000 miles today...it's a shame)
Brother-in-Law 2004 BMW 330i with Premium Performance package
Dad had a red 87 Porsche turbo until it was submerged in a flood, i'm currently trying to convince him to get one of the new vettes

My sister with the acura has a fiance with a Subaru Forester XT. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it has a 6-speed, and is pretty quick...He said it is the fastest production vehicle 0-30, so basically beats just about anyone through an intersection

Cool cars man, but the forester is def NOT the fastest production car 0-30 LOL!!!!!!!! The STI is way faster then that especially off the line, and that isnt the fastest production car or anywhere near it to 30... Not trying to start ANYTHING because words seem to get a little twisted over the internet

Anyway I have the G35 Sedan (currently my moms, mine and dad's LOL), BMW M3 mine, my fathers Mountaineer and a supercharged bonneville my moms lol, shes prob gettin a g35x!!

Well I dont have a G but would definitely like to nab one in the future.

At the moment Im drivin a 2001 Grand Am GT. Yea yea... I know what youre thinking... Bought it new and only have 28k on it. Done a good deal of performance + visual mods to it. I think I made the best of it.

But what it comes down to ..... I can beat stock G's.... but my window regulators break, switches are loose, and resale value is crap. Good thing I love my car.

Thank ya

Ive had a couple people ask if it was a GTO. Most dont know what the hell it is because you dont see many modded GA's. It does have a Trans Am'ish look because of the hood. Its a scoop molded from the WS6.

As far as performance goes, I only have some basics. A custom CAI w/ an inverted K&N, HiFlow Cat, SLP exhaust, and SnS Headers. Its really expensive to do anything to it w/ the crap aftermarket we have. (ie... I paid close to a grand for my header setup.... and the only supercharger available for the 3400 is over $6000). So I have no urge to push my car into the 13's because... well frankly...its not worth it.

illg35-thanks for the numbers, i'll have to show them to him...i am really impressed with his car though, he has done a couple things to it so far, mostly cosmetic, but i think he has the gold sti rims on the way...i always crack jokes on him about getting to the grocery store faster than the other moms

kse73-your car reminds me so much of my car i had before the g, my parents got me an 01 cavalier z24 when i was 16, and over the next couple of years i dropped every penny of my paycheck into it...i caught the bug and couldnt go much more than 2 or 3 weeks without a new mod...it was all appearance except for headers and intake, stuff like that...i couldnt stand the way it turned out in the end, but your car looks pretty good

macky-as if we aren't jealous enough that you have an evo and we don't, you gotta run out and get two of em'? thats just cold rubbing it in like that haha

nice rims.. lol.. but not start a flame war here, but I find it weird you are beating stock G's with only intake and exhaust on a grand am!(16 second car stock!) what are your track times? slips?

Stock GA's run anywhere from mid 16's to low 15's. 15.7 being the average. I dont have any slips (of course, right?). And I dont blame you for being suspicious, because even prior to owning the car, I didnt think it had much capability.

Since I havent gotten to the track (the only people who try and get me to go have heavily modded Fbodies....intimidating). My only means of judging 1/4 times is by comparing from races on a closed track. Back when my only mod was a catback exhaust, I consistently beat my friends GA which ran 15.1. (At least he has a time slip)

The intake made a minimal difference but the headers made a world of distance. Ive beaten multiple WRX's, Mustang GT's, GTI, RSX.... Thus giving me the ability to estimate how I'd rank among other 1/4 times.

But to be honest, my statement about the G may still be false. I was under the notion a stock G ran mid 14's. I just looked it up somewhere and saw 14.2. Im still new, still learning, and not afraid to admit if im wrong

respectful answer, but you just put more doubt in my mind by saying you have beaten wrx's,mustang gt's? the others ill say ok cause they are high 15 sec, cars, but these 2 both are low 14 sec cars.. so the only thing i can see possible here is that you are racing people who have no idea how to drive! a win is a win and good kills, i would be happy too. but any respectable driver would run really low 14's with both those cars! just doesn't seem logical that only with exhaust and intake did you gain well over a second in the 1/4! if you did thats PIMP! good job. but take it to the track and get some slips! then and only then will i believe you run anywhere near 14's.. but sweet ride man, i got the same rims on my cobra in chrome 96 Cobra

Proof is proof - I have none so like I said, I dont blame ya for not believin me. As far as the people not knowing how to drive.... anythings a possibility. I didnt know them, so I have no basis for judgement.

Im tryin to catch an opportunity to get to the track asap (while its still cold). If I was right, I'll be sure to let ya know...and hell, if Im wrong, I'll let ya know too. BTW, Nice Ride! Love the wheels, lol.

ha ha thanks, and ya let us know, very curious to see what you pull off, and dont be intimidated by faster cars, i went on a mass race meet day and got spanked by 9 and 10 sec. beasts.. how would you like having a car doing a wheelie pull away from you like you were standing still? lol
