GT Live - off the hook!!!!
just got back from GT Live up in Fontana where they featured the first ever JGTC round in the USA. this has had to be the sickest car venue i've ever been to. the Xanavi/NISMO 350Z was incredible the whole time and led the pack the whole time like it was a walk in the park, that is, up until another car took him out, i think it was the Takata/Dome NSX. In the end the i think it was the Epson/PIAA NSX who ended up taking home the 500 class and the M-TEC NSX took home the 300 class. the 500 class was handed on a platter to the Epson/PIAA NSX as soon as the Xanavi/NISMO Z was forced out of commission while the M-TEC NSX almost seemed to win its class effortlessly. The PIAA/Epson NSX has my vote as the machine with the sweetest backfire action, i'm talkin nice sized flames erupting out of its dual JGTC exhaust. the loudest car of this event IMO had to be the Amemiya Aspara Drink RX-7 with its high revving rotory. they were all very sick cars and i filled a 512MB CF memory card with 6 megapixel pics. i'll have to get it onto my computer and upload them when i get back to NY. equally as sick, but in a different manner, was the D1 USA vs Japan's best drifters. very intense competition with alot of energy from the crowd. surprisingly Rhys Millen in his Pontiac GTO held his own, i would have to say that he was the most impressive drifter out of all of them. he hit the course the fastest and had the best lines and control i had seen all night. too bad he screwed up when it counted the most and got eliminated. i have to give those guys alot of respect due to the speed and agility they navigate that course at. i would end up crashing the crap outta my car if i ever attempted to do that. all in all IMHO it was well worth the flight out from NY and the hour drive each day to go check out this event. i hope the pics come out decent cos i'm no professional photographer, lol. hopefully someone with more skills can get pics and a video up soon.

i just came from there too...damn that was a long drive, but well worth it. The drifting was awesome and so were the jgtc cars. It was so friggen cold though. The one GT-R that was messing around with those other cars on the track before D1 was soooo nice. That car looked hotter than the ferrari that was on the track. Also, it totally owned the ferrari
![]() I was hoping to see the falken g35 drift car, but i guess they are saving its debut for some other event

oh yah btw G35LIN, im sure you'll read this soon, i just want to say it was good meeting you on our way out.. you've got a really hot car
my friend who was in the car with me owns a sedan also and he was obsessed with those angel eyes of yours hahaa i kept trying to convince him that it wasnt worth the trouble doing that to his car because it takes too long and im sure he'd screw it up but he didnt listen.. oh well..oh yah the jgtc+d1 events made me aware that my car already has 3k miles and all i've done are clear corners and white clearance bulbs... seeing all those fixed up cars gave me the mod sickness and i decided to start going against what i told myself not to do and build up my car. JGTC is the Japan Grand Touring Championship. It features mostly Japanese cars such as the NSX or 350Z but there are Ferraris and Vipers as well. They have two classes. 500 and 300 which basically denotes horsepower ratings. Two drivers per car and a hell of a lot cooler than NASCAR! Fontucky...er Fontana is basically NASCAR country here in SoCal but it was overwhelmed by the Japanese racers...
I would have loved to see the Xanavi-NISMO R34 go on the oval while the NASCAR cars were there and see the result...hehehe... |

I'm sunburned, my lips are chapped, my nose was bleeding, my eyes were bloodshot,
I still smell like burned tires, but man that was a FUN weekend! The Motul Skyline GTR doing the Tuner Time Attack before D1 was very nice. The Aspara RX7 was indeed the loudest JGTC car there. The loud exhaust tone builds up higher and higher, and at the pain threshold, you wish it'd shift already, but the rotary just keeps on winding ![]() The Japanese D1 drifters far outclassed most of the American drivers out there. It was a huge difference watching them do qualifying. But Chris in the silver 350Z and Rhys Millen in the GTO were very good. I also think that Rhys should have won over the RX7, but Rhys messed up under pressure ![]() As part of the SoCal G35 club representing G35driver out there, we got the special Club pass. The Club parking area was packed with NSX's and EVO's and WRX's. Only some of the clubs got to do the Fan Lap, and since I had everyone register early, we were part of that lucky bunch. The Fan Lap was insane, being gridded out there in the pits, right next to the JGTC cars being worked on by mechanics after their practice run. Some of the guys got some nice in car footage of our lap around California Speedway, hopefully they will post them up soon. |
