Audi TT Quattro

I been looking to purchase an Audi TT Quattro, but it seems that Audi owners encounter alot of problems. I've personally owned an Acura Integra GS, Infiniti G20 and now the Infiniti G35 all my life and really never had any major problems. From conversations I've had with Audi owners the one major problem I always hear is the electricals in these cars are very poorly done, these were coming from a gentlemen owning the new A8 and another from the new 2.8 Liter Audi A4. Also, it seems like the resale value on these cars are very poor as well. Any members on this board have experience with Audi's in the past? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

One of my friends from college bought an Audi TT after graduation. He said never again. Sorry can't detail and specific problems, but he was not happy.

my sister owns an audi s4 (fairly new... picked it up last november), she hasn't had a single problem yet (knock on wood). from what i've seen the car looks extremely solid in terms of build quality. ie. no rattles, quiet interior, excellent fit and finish. sorry i couldn't comment on the tt. i'm surprised the a8's have problems.... i wouldn't want to spend that much on a car and get a lemon. also... i know vw's have a lot of problems with them (my sister's last car and she can attest to that)... having both nameplates under the same umbrella makes me wonder what kind of component sharing they do ... if any.

Thumbs down Audi: Just Say No!

DON'T DO IT! I owned not one, but two, 2001 Audi TT Roadsters (175hp Lake Metallic Silver w/Basball interior/Black top & a 225hp Quattro Black/Black/Black). They were the biggest P.O.S's. The 175hp would get vapor lock all of the time. In addition to the fit and finish was horrendous, but time I sold it, it was falling apart (replaced the top twice). The 225hp had so many problems it was not even funny: Replaced the wiring harness for the headlights/fog lights, replaced the radio twice (volume you not work), the car would not start if the gas tank was less than half full, on top of that all of the gauges were off (i.e. gas gauge would show 1/4 tank and it would be empty, ran out of gas three times even though the gauge read 1/4 tank), the window washer reservoir exploded (no big deal right, wrong the reservoir is located inside the front driverside body panel, not in the engine comparment). Every couple of days I would get into the car to start it and the calendar would read July 1,1998 and all of the gauges would be pinned (i.e. the speedo would read 130+ mph w/ the car off same for the tach). If the car sat for more than a couple of hours it would be difficult to start (have to turn it over three to four time to start). Anytime it got really humid, the windows would roll down by themselves and not go back up unless I shut the car off. This would happen all of the time during driving rain storms and while I was on the highway. Windows would also roll down while the car was parked/off. I can not count how many times I would come back to my and the windows would be half way down. On top of all the problems with the car, the dealership was less than cooperative in correcting them. I would research the problems on the internet and tell the dealership what needs to be done, their response to me would be "this type of problem is undocumented/never heard of this before", BS! You can go online (auditt.org or audiworld.com) and find dozens of people with the same probs. Keep in mind, I baby all of my cars (garaged/covered, washed religiously, maintained regularly, always parked in B.F.E., etc.). I will never own another Audi. There product and customer service are deplorable. Like many people I believed the myth about German cars and that if I spent good money on a "superior quality" car, I would receive better service, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. Stick with Japanese cars. I had a Honda Prelude Si 4WS for 10 years and the car never even wimpered (it was inadvertantly turned into a boat during a really bad rainstorm, the parking lot where it was parked flooded and it was a total loss). DO NOT DO IT, SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON ANOTHER VEHICLE. AUDI: JUST SAY NO!

VW/Audi are like Nissan/Infiniti, all parts are the same, made the same, just pay more for the name. I owned a 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro. I loved the car, my first car mind you. It did have major problems. I cracked the turbo, gas sensor was totally ****ed up it took me a good 20 minutes to fill up with gas, had to stop every .5/g for a few secs. Car randomly shut off, even on the highway at 80+mph. Cup holder broke a good 10 times in the 18months i had that car. I loved the look, handling, perf. sucked but what can you complain about with a AWD 1.8T car. I always plan on owning another Audi but wont until i can get something with some power, ie. //S4! imo the TT looks like garbage and is nothing to compare to the G35. Your much better off with a G in all aspects of the car. Money/power/realibility/styling/chick factor ( if that is a factor ) EVERYTHING!!

Well,....I allmost bought the new TT 3.2 DSG before I got my G35.

I got the G because my requirments for 4 doors changed.

That DSG trany was wonderful, but I'd sure hate to put up with
all the electrical problems; even under warrantee.

Angry TT = Think Twice

Yep! I had two of those lemons. I saw a Coupe driving one day and I had to have one. The dealership did not have the one I wanted so I "settled" for the Lake Metallic Silver 180hp Roadster, meanwhile I also ordered the one really I wanted, a 225hp Roasdster Quattro:Raven Black/black leather interior/black Top. That is what I get for trying to be the first kid on the block with a new toy. It turns out, through much research, both TT's were in the first batch of 350 roadsters made for the US. They obviously had not worked out the bugs. One thing I forgot to mention previously, the 225hp version was to come from the factory with a power top. They forgot to install it (being the first batch), I should have known something was off right there. Like I said, I wanted my new toy then & there. Live and learn. This time I waited patiently for four months for my G. So far, so good.

Friend of mine has a 2001 A6, I think the car is built well, very solid, but I'll have to go with the reliability being questionable. I love the way some of their cars look, but I don't think I'll ever buy one unless I'm loaded and have other cars to drive.

Check These Out!

They are beautiful, but not worth the grief, or money. Extremely pleased with the G.

yea id have to agree audi reliability sucks. ive just spend over 1200 on new abs controller and one of 4 oxygen sensors. its not that they cant do electronics right, its jus that they have sensors for freaking everything. unnessary crap that they have just to say they have it. for instance, there is 3 fuel sensors. one goes, you have to replace all 3. wut the freak were they thinking.

but when all is said and done, i still love my car and probably will get another audi. build quality is excellent. no rattles, leaks, etc and i have 80k on my car. if you dont have extra funds to maintain about 2-3k per year, dont get an audi. it also not that theres lots of things that go wrong, its just that when they do, the parts cost and arm and a leg.

my timingbelt/water pump change is going to cost me 900 bucks. =(. my 1999 i30 had only fuel injector problems at 90k. thats it.hehe
