Lets all sign this petition to bring back the 240sx to the states. hopefully with enough signatures we can get the S-16 over here.

And people really think that signing an online petition is going to get a major auto manufacturer to rethink it's market strategy and North American line-up? Wow, that's dedication.

The S16 is the latest Silvia evolution. The Silvia is a Nissan, and was sold here in the states as a 180SX and also as a 240SX. Knock-off of the G35? I think not...

There was never a 180sx(hatch) over here in the States...just a 240sx(coupe or hatch) sporting a KA24DE. I guess for a true 180sx to be over here it would sport a CA18DET or a SR20DET engine. The naming configuration is how it goes.

240sx - US
-----
89-94 : S13
95-98 : S14

There was a S12 but that was something like a 1984-1988 200Sx...looks like a corolla AE86. Also I forgot to add that in Japan the S13(coupe or hatch) chasis actually was in production till 1998 I believe along side the S14(coupe). The S15 replaced the S14 I believe until the early years of 2000 or 2001 or 2002.

I think if Nissan really brings over a Silvia(coupe) that would be great but the main problem with the Silvia is the SR20DET. Great motor but one thing...it won't pass emissions. I've talked to many 240sx enthusiats and no one has ever passed a smog test so if you ever get popped by the police your screwed.
Oh yeah forgot to mention it would compete with the current 350Z. Why would Nissan want to do that. Im sure if they made a Silvia its going to cost somewhere between 22-25k which is pretty close to the 350Z.
If they do bring it back I think a AWD version would be more apparent to keep up with the marketing over todays WRX, EVO, etc.

Another thing a silvia is a coupe while a 180sx is a hatchback.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I don't know why I put the 180 in there. I think I added it because I just recently read up on a Sileigthy. My mistake.

I'm surprised nobody has tried to import this car into the U.S. like they have with the skyline and evo 7's.

I've seen many a 240sx with the sr20det's and front ends, but never the whole s-16 car.

I believe the reason they can't bring them over was it can't pass emissions and no one wants to spend millions of dollars crash testing them as well as trying to make them pass emissions. Ask Motorex and they had to crash lots of skylines...too bad I hear they are going out of business or something like that.

i have some nice pics of different 240's. I would be driving an s14 if my father had just said "here's 37k go buy a car and whatever u want for it" instead of "find some cars you like that are either bmw, lexus, or nissan." By the way... why would someone import an s15 or silvia of some year? has the skyline not proven that importing a car is ridiculously expensive? I have a friend with an s13 hatch with s15 front end without an sr20 and one wiht an s13 with silvia front end with s13 sr20. I have another good friend with an s14 soon to be KA-t and another with black sr20 s14. They are MEAN cars and as long as they are in good running condition and have a manual tranny, they are fun. The 240 is a fun car in even with a KA. I watched my friend with the black 240 at a drift competition with something like 30 cars and was the only KA 240 when half the cars were 240s with sr20s (all 1vias except one s14 KA-t), and he was able to come in at 5-10th places against very very nice and expensive cars with much much more power, and older drivers who have been driving longer than 2 years (he was 18).

fact is... it will not come out to compete with nissans that are currently out. Like it or not..... the market that i believe the focus is on is the SUV market. Where do you think the supra, 240sx, and rx7 went? they were replaced by SUV's in that price range and those company's came out with cheaper or nicer cars with less performance, lower price, and in a couple of cases more class.
