Its funny you mention the Accord because when I saw the first picture of it, I automatically thought of a Civic. I haven't seen one in person yet so I can only comment on the pictures I've seen. |

I saw one aboue 2 weeks ago and thought it was a new Honda or Toyota. The look has definitely changed for VW with the new Jetta. The back kinda reminded me of a corolla.

The back end definitely looks like a Corolla. The proportions are like a Corolla too....too narrow and tall. I've asked the few Jetta owners I know what they think of the new one, and none of them like it.
FWIW, the Jetta was designed for the US...hatchbacks don't sell well here so they grafted a trunk onto the Golf in the early 80s. In Europe, the Jetta is seen as an old man's car. Here, they're viewed as cars for 20-somethings, and mainly chicks.

Drove one during a recent airshow I was a part of. We had it as a loaner for the Blue Angels from a local dealer.
I liked it. If it had a real engine under the hood it would be a player. The interior was AUDI - licious and the build quality seemed to be there too. It drove very well - quiet at speed, and didn't roll like a french pastry in the corners. Loved the rear but the front would have had to grow on me. I like what they did with the car and in the right color with the right rims and some tint it would be a pleasure to look at. Too bad they didn't shovel that 280HP V6 they're coming with under the hood, with a little 4-Motion AWD. That would be a very nice car to drive. Oh - did I mention you could put AT LEAST 8 bodies in the trunk? Holy smokes - it's HUGE! |

On Motorweek, I saw the '06 Ford Explorer. The grille was chrome and very similar to the new Jetta, but the upright portion on the sides of the grille opening had slots in it like the F350/Sporttrac. I can't find a photo to show though.

It seems to be a good car for the money. Looks better in person than in pictures, IMO. I would only get that car with the TDI diesel or the V-6. The base 5 cylinder is a POS motor.
