Why can I not beat my bosses FX45??

I went 2 runs on my bosses FX45 and am falling short by inches. I have an 05 6-speed. I am dropping the clutch at 2000 rpms and shifting fairly quickly at 6900rpms. I should be able to take him no problem, right?

Correct the FX45 has a 4.5 liter V8 and the FX35 is our motor the 3.5 liter. Weight wise I am not sure, but don't forget the gearing is probably different. Let's see how he does over 100MPH. V8 is also going to have more torque and won't have traction issues as well.

Most car mags have the FX45 at 6.5 seconds 0-60 and right at 15 seconds flat in the 1/4. So no, you shouldn't lose in theory. It does take a few thousand miles for the engine to start to break in.

Not that this means the world but since nobody else posted it:

FX45:
4,370 pounds
315 hp/329 ft-lb

G35:
3,512 pounds
MT 298 hp/260 ft-lb

This gives the FX a roughly 13.9 weight/hp ratio and 13.3 weight/torque ratio (for what its worth)

The G35 has a 11.78 weight/hp ratio and 13.5 weight/torque ratio.

comparing these if we were going off of numbers only, the G would win a race.
In the real world, this would apply depending on driver skill mostly based on launch.

You have to understand that the torque curve for the FX is going to kick in much more quickly at 4000 rpm and quite possibly give it a jump off of the line, but compared to what was stated earlier, the G "should" be able to walk one of these down.

those numbers are for the FX35 - the FX45 is pretty = to the G coupe in terms of acceleration (low 14's quarter) so what you're seeing is about right...

VDC's off?
Launching @ 2k?
- I launch at higher RPM's... ~3500rpm.
(just don't do it often cause over time you'll kill your clutch)

Like in any race, it's a "driver's" race...
- practice quicker shifts?

Practice... and have another go at it. You shouldn't lose.

You shouldn't lose.

Practice man, practice (i.e. feather, don't drop the clutch at launch, & faster 1/2 shift).

Or buy an AT.
