Back seat room

Hello all I currently drive a 2001 CLK430 and I am looking to trade it in for a G35 coupe. I was wondering how is the back seat room in this car because in my car its not that bad. Also what are some common problems with the 03 and 04 G35 coupes.

My fiance owns a 2004 CLK 320 and I've had my 2005 6MT coupe for the last month. Let me tell you that the Benz has more room in the back seat than the coupe. There is just a little bit more leg room in the back of the MB compared to the G, but where you really notice the space is the head room. The MB accomodates my 6'0" 165 lbs. frame without any scrunching or head adjustment, the G requires quite a bit of slouching for anyone over 5'7".

Also, as far as getting a new G, I would HIGHLY recommend buying an '05 if you are coming from MB. There are MAJOR improvements in the 2005 G compared to the previous years, a good deal of which are in the interior. My '05's interior is almost as refined and sleek as the '04 CLK 320, but the 2003 and 2004 G's look very plasticky and out of proportion. You also won't have any rattles to deal with and you get extra HP and fantastic stock 19's if you go with the 6MT.

Long story short:
1. Don't put any full grown adult males in the back of the G and you'll be fine.
2. Get the 2005, far superior to the '03's and '04's.

^^ Yeah, what he said. Leg room on the coupes aren't that bad. It's just headroom sucks for anyone over 5'8". But the G35 coupe isn't a people mover.

I'm 6' 2' the leg room is fine, the back of my head does touch the glass when I sit in it, but when I slide a little forward I'm comfortable. Its a sports coupe at the end of the day; I sat in the back of a Supra which was the worst ever (All I remember is pain) and also Mustang convertable; both were MUCH worse than the G.

They didn't fix the rattles in 05's... And you forgot to mention the high risk of an oil consumption problem in 05+

I would say far superior would be a stretch.

LOL.

There are very few changes to the G from '04 to '05 other than the 6mt rev up engine which is debatable as to being an improvement. The interior is a slight upgrade but the MAJOR improvement is in the '07 sedan and the '08 G37. There is very little change in the "plasticky" department and out of proportion" is a pretty vague suggestion. Otherwise the car is basically the same so not sure what other "major" improvements you are referring to. "Far superior" is an absolute overstatement since it's almost the exact same car. The rattles certainly aren't limited to '03 and '04 cars. Once again the "far superior" cars come from the next generation models not from the minor cosmetic changes in '05.
