2006 Scion tC or 2006 Mazda3s Sedan?

I know, I'm not comparing apples to apples. But putting aside practicality and focusing only on performance, handling, and design (interior and exterior), and build quality which car would you buy and why? I figure both will come to around 20-22K. Please don't consider which will haul more kids or groceries or all that practical stuff. Thanks!

The Mazda or the Scion will be replacing my G.

I think the Tc would be more fun, and is built better than a Ford/Mazda. That's a tough choice....... The mazda is a little more grown up.

I'd still go w/ the Tc, and maybe add/mod it a little as crash flows more.

getting rid of the G.....ahhh
well, i always thought the scion looked like a bootleg version of the G....
i've heard crappy things about Mazda but the newer models look pretty nice.
Scion is made by Toyota so probably isnt that bad.
Plenty of customization options on the tC if thats what you're into.

The Mazda 3 is the better car IMO. Mazda really knows how to tune its suspension and has more features than the tC. I also think they look better

I like the looks of the mazda 3 more so that would be my choice.

Look, this is a simple question. tC for sure. I would also look at Tiburon GT's though. Very nice cars for the dollar. another car to look at if you are a performance nut, the Dodge SRT-4. I am going to get flamed for saying this, but really probably the best bang for your buck car on the planet. go to www.mopar.com and check out the stage 3 upgrade!!! WOW. The tC will last longer than any of these cars and has the uber reliable Toyota VVTi motor in it.

Mazda3. Wife commutes 160 miles round trip 3 days a week. She has Ralley White w / the S package, leather, 5sp. The car is pretty impressive for the $$$ {around 19500.00}

There is no sedan version of the si, if I recall correctly - just the SIR which is a little more hp, and a hatch.

Between the Scion and the 3 I would get the scion based on the fun factor. I think it looks better, is more fun to drive, and I like the customizability. And it's a Toyota...

tC definately. That is what my wife drives and was mine before the G. Everyone is working on tuner parts for the tC. It's an incredibly fun car to drive. It also has an amazing amount of rear seat room (if that's important).

I'd get the SAAB 9-2x Aero instead for $19,425.00 after the current GM Employee discount. It's essentially a WRX.

We were going to replace my husband’s current daily driver with either the Scion tC or a Mazda3, so we looked at both several months ago. I don’t think you could go wrong with either, but I found the tC to be more fun, it’s from Toyota so it should be more reliable, and there’s a good availability of aftermarket parts. If you’re ok with a two door, I’d go with the tC.
