cts-v
yall like? i know this is a G35 board, but i was just curious as to foreign car owners thoughts on this American sedan.
it is by far my favorite American car--that and the 300 SRT-8. but the price is too much, even with my GM discount. that is the main reason i am considering the G--best value i can foind yet. just wanted your true thoughts? i find it funny how much i hate the regular CTS, but love the V....looks, style....obviously the ride is way different. a buddy of mine said it best, "he would give his testicle for the V, but wouldnt give a nail clipping for the CTS. that is pretty much how i feel for some strange reason |

You cannot deny the performance is there but the styling makes the G35 look like swan. To me, that car is just damn ugly. since you like the 300C I am sure you would be okay with the CTS V styling

Ugly, but fast.
I will never purchase an American car again. Had one and that was tooooo many. They just cannot compete with foreign cars as far as reliability and looks. I can also say the same about European cars from my experience with them. I stick with foreign and Consumer Reports recommended models only. Been burned too many times with other cars.

i do like the edgy looks of the V. i am worried about the true quality of it though.
obviously the speed factor is nice. i like the interior, somewhat. all the black plastic makes it looks worse imo, but with a titanium dash kit i think it would be pretty perfect. if you have never been in one, the picks look real bad, imo. but the dash is made out of some "non-glare" checked material that i think looks and feels awsome when inside. |

This should be in 'other cars' but okay.
I love the CTS-V but not at the price Caddy demands. Great car, great numbers, great motor, and I like the styling upgrades over the 'unldeaded' CTS. It was one on my list when I was shopping the G Sedan, but price quickly removed it from the short list. What is the new GM discount price? Anyone have an idea? |

I sell Cadillacs, and have sold my share of "V's". I think they are great looking cars personaly...probably an aquired taste. They are brutally fast, and handle well. But...they are plagued with many irritating problems that stem from cost cutting by GM and the too-much-motor-for-the-chassis syndrome. I drive what I want to, and bought a preowned G35 because I saw the value for the dollar and think it's a hoot to drive...on top of it being ultra reliable. To each his/her own, but I think that there are quite a few cars out there that top the Cadillac CTS-V in terms of value, owner-friendliness, and reliability.
Just hope my boss doesn't see this!!

If you had said STS then I would be in agreement with you. Cts does have it moments though. STS is awesome. I wish I could have afforded it... Well then that would put me in lexus, bmw, merc territory. So then at the end of the day I would still be caddy-less.

I don't hate it, but for $45-50K .... you've got a whole world of options (including a nice down payment on a house ... haha
At least Cadillac has executed a nice turnaround, but this only goes to frustrate me by demonstrating that GM could actually build a good sedan if it wanted to

It's a four door Vette!
I must be going camping cos every time I see one I find a tent in my pants. Sophisticated no. Brutal? Hell ya. But seriously? Look at this: http://www.lingenfelter.com/pack_cad_cts.htm |

Great chassis, though it does hit the bumps like all CTS models, meaning harshly, without much finess. However, I'm a fan of the LS6, and comfort-Those things punch out and handle damn decently.
The rear still looks like an after thought, though if they changed the front air damn a bit where they ditched the DRLs, widened the break duct openings it would look decent. The dash works better than it looks, only complaint is the huge steering wheel. Would rather have the CTS V than anything at $50k, unless the S4 V8 had a few more ponies. Terrible investment, I know, but it would be fun for a couple of years. Last edited by Lip; 07-21-2005 at 01:19 AM. |

Do a google search for any of the major car magazine reviews of the CTS-V, and you will see for yourself - they all had a LOT of praise for the CTS-V handling and its chassis. |
