G vs. Lexus GS400

hey guys ... i had an argument with a friend earlier about this ... but stock for stock, which is faster, the G or a V8 lexus gs 400. i know with SRT the GS will smoke the G, but stock for stock i dunno. anyone in here ever have a run in with one before? lemme know, would help solve an argument.

thanks guys.

its a intake and chip ... they come together ... u basically get the intake, with a chip u solder onto the computer of the car in the top left of the engine bay. it changes around the timing, and hooks up the vvt-i the engine is equipped with. here's a link if u wanna check it out.

Well, I drive a GS430 a lot. 0-60, stock fot stock, they are about the same. But after 90+ mph, the V8 Lexus takes over. The GS430 and GS400 are identical in hp figures, and I believe nearly identical in torque figures too.

The GS430 has a more 'linear' powerband that makes it a little bit faster than the GS400. The peak power is the same, but if I remember correctly the GS430 has a bit more torque.

Also, SRT stands for Swift Racing Technologies, a company that makes parts for the GS300/400/430 along with the IS300. They make, as stated above, an intake/ECU package, but they are also known for making a fairly 'sketchy' turbo kit.

0-60 GS400>G35
1/4 G35>GS400
High Speed GS400>G35

Would soldering that chip on make your warranty void?

I think..

It would make no sense for the G35 to pull ahead to win the 1/4 mile after losing 0-60 but then somehow slow down at 'high speed'.

On a side note, my brother has a '01 GS430 that I've gotten up on the speed limiter before (3 in the morning on a deserted highway that's as straight as possible with entrance/exits that you can see from far away), and it had alot left in it once it hit the limitied 155 mph. I felt like it could easily get up past 160+ without any trouble. I've yet to get my G35 Coupe up that high to see what it can do (nor will I try seeing as I thought I was going to die when I topped out the GS430), but from what I can tell after driving each car, I feel like the G35 can take it through any acceleration test you'd put them both through. The G35 just feels like it has more of a bottom end, in my opinon due mainly to the G35 being lighter. It also just feels like it pulls a bit harder too, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the GS430 is so isolated from the road that your senses just aren't as involved.

Yes. I know a lot of people that have the SRT intake/ECU on thier IS300 have been harrassed by dealerships when they are trying to get warranty work done. The fact that when you take the intake/ECU off there is obvious evidence of tampering because of the soldering I'm sure doesn't help the situation at all.
