Co-worker says his "chevrolet malibu" is like my 2004 g35 coupe m6......I was shock!
damm, just didint know what to say...
In the elevator this morning: Him: what's the engine in that thing? me: (3 sec pause I said).... euh (not sure he was talking to me)...3.5 liters? Him: Just like mine! my Malibu has 200 hp, yours? Me: 5 sec pause...(looking at elevator wall) 280 hp, 270 torque... Him: yep!, just like mine!!! (and continue compare.. .) Me: I did not reply....(just didint know from were to start..) Have reach his floor, he gets out... DAMMM, A v6 malibu have 200hp, right? There were other persons in the elevator, i did not wanted to start a war..the guy was older than me too.... How can someone compare a american chevrolet 4 door family car with a g35 coupe? What do you do in those situation?

Personally, I'd have a little giggle and shake my head when he left the elevator so that the others there would realize I found it amusing. If he drives a Malibu he's not a car guy so you're never going to be able to explain it to him in a way that he understands, he's never going to truly appreciate the car, and any attempts to change that will invariably involve putting down his ride. Be the bigger man.
I have a friend who wants to compare his POS JVC (Junk Very Cheap) boxed surround package with my Harman Kardon with 7.1 surround and twin 12" Velodyne subs. Him: How many watts you got per channel? Me: 70 H: Cool. I got 60. Surround sound? M: Yeah - 7 channels . H: Cool. Me too. (M: HUH?  ) Got a sub?M: Yeah...... H: Cool. Me too (thinking a 6 inch speaker in a .5 cubic ft. box is a speaker.) Followed by......."It's pretty awesome. I love it". Don't piss on his parade. For some people ignorance truly is bliss. The people who's opinion you value know the difference. I always play dumb in those situations...dont want to come off cocky or rude - esp to someone older and in a work/business environment.
I hada guy tell me one time that his new Mazda 3 was just a "luxuary" as my Infiniti....Hmmm...i just shook my head and agreed and replied with a very a political comment like, "yeah, i hear those new 3s are real slick inside" LOL

They are just saying these things to convince themselves that it was ok not to get a G or Bmw or whatever they really wanted. I mean really. Who goes out and says "o man today im going to go get my malibu." "All my friends will be so jealous of me." No they buy a car like that for financial reasons or there wife wont let them or whatever.

They must offer some really interesting financing option for these cars..
LAst week in canada I think I heard a 0% financing on 72 months for a KIA, that.s amazing!!
