That car is gonna be hard to beat man. This is with just the 6 Speed Automatic. Imagine how fast it will be with a 6MT.

When the IS300 came out there was not a 6MT version until later on. Why wouldn't they follow the same pattern?

that car sent to CarandDriver was a pre production model....all pre production models are crazy faster than the production one will be.

Car and driver has professional drivers that know exactly how to launch an automatic car. Most people who get the IS350 will not be able to get those same numbers.

But in Oct's Road n Track, as i had post before, it clock at 6.0 to 60/hr and 14.5 to 1/4 miles...so cant read too much into it, they will 6MT in couple of years

it sure will be a quick car, but its not supposed to be used as a drag car anyways. its a nice sporty sedan that has great quality and damn, its a lexus..lol, u no what that means for reliability.

i think peeps just look too deep into those things. most of those who buy lexus prob not really into street racing anyways.. plus the IS isnt meant or targeted to be a sports car. its just got a nice engine is a great car! it wont handle like a BMW...well, nothin really does, but its quieter and more of a relaxing car than a true driver's car!

not every car is built to handle or accelerate with the best of them. lexus is taking a diff rout on the IS this time.. like many have said, its more like a baby GS than a BMW 3 beater! nothin wrong with that tho... peeps have diff demands and wants..not everyone wanna or will take theri car to the track. the new IS is just doing what lexus does best!!

your right,they are its gonna come out a year later just like the last one did. that is350 is a pretty sharp looking car i saw it in person at the ny auto show.
the 250 not worth buying but that 350,badass.

i recently test drove an is350/AT at a lexus event (tasteoflexus.com). the car felt too smooth and really refined.

acceleration on the is350 is fast and not too torque'y. the car hugs every turn and brakes close to the dime. the track was short, so i probably finished in 30-45 secs once green was up.

they also had competitors car there 330i vs is350, e55 vs 5series vs gs400. they showed that the 330i is slower than is350 in their test race (probably rigged)

on the other hand, i test drove the SC afterwards and it was a POS. This lead me to think the IS is fine tuned in these event to attract sales.

if the is350 is out before i got the g and it feels the way it was at this event, i think it will give the G a run for its money.

lastly, the is250 does come in 6mt, so i wouldn't be surprised if the is350 comes out with 6mt in future upgrades.
