RX-7 run

Last night I was driving to a local casino on I-5, this black 93-96 RX-7 rolls up next to me and starts acting like he want's to race. I have my father and brother in the car so I'm not really wanting to race, I usually don't race on the freeway anyway. I keep it cool but this guy really want's to pull me. I'm thinking I'll get toasted anyway, it looks like he has modded it and it doesn't look beat on. I finally had enough, but I just chill. I wait until there are absolutely no cars on the road for 2-3 miles. Then I drop into 3rd and let him know my intentions. I hit the gas first, but he anticapates my move. I jump out just a little, but we are even up to about 110, when he starts to pull slightly, and we shut it down around 125 when he was about half a car length ahead. I have two fat family members in the car and it's just him in his modded RX-7, I was so impressed(again) with the G. Now before someone starts to flame the evil street racer, let me emphasize the circumstances. My bro and dad were o.k. with it. The section of I-5 was 3 lanes, straight as an arrow, and not a car for 2-3 miles. I'm 35 years old and almost never drive like that and haven't had a ticket in 5 years. Also have had racing school and track experience.

sounds like that RX7 was stock turbo... they are pretty light so even in stock formation i give it to the RX7. When they came out i think R&T gave them 13.8 1/4... though they have poor relaiability!

RX-7 are mean as hell. they are the best mazda ever and def. the only mazda i would get. the new RX8 just not even close.

good job keeping up with it, but i think if the guy knows how to drive and moded right, u shouldnt have a chance to even be close. not flaming on u or anything, but i know those things are nasty on a straight or on turns.. it handles like a wet dream..lol!

goodjob nontheless and sounds like good fun!!

That's why I posted this. He should have ran me by a couple car lengths. I love RX-7's and almost bought one about 5 years ago, but the damn things break every time you drive them. This was a modded RX-7 and in very good shape(it at least had exhaust, and lot's of tire underneath it). Most of the ones that I've seen are in pretty rough shape, i.e. beat. This one looked like it had been taken care of.

i love those RX7 too..just sooo beautiful. i almost got one back in early college..like 4 or 5 years ago too. but then, like everyone said, it breaks down wayyyy too easily and too expensive to keep it on the road, so i gave up that thought. i may regret down the road for not gettin that one i thought for soo long (highly moded yellow 7...just pure sex on wheels), but oh well, i may have regreted if i gotten it and have to fix it every other day!

be happy with the G i guess (altho i dont have one yet )... an IP will be in my parkin spot soon i hope!

so why is the rx-8 the new generation of mazda slower? I give props to the G for keeping up, usually those things are highly modded around o.c/l.a.
