Torn between the G and the Z
I have been researching each of these cars for a while now. I've decided if I buy a Z or a G it will be an 06 so that means that I'll probably wait till Feb. sense the G's aren't coming out till then. I like the outter styling of the G a little better than the Z. It is sleeker I think and I don't really like the antenna on the Z (I know you can buy shorter aftermarket ones that helps the looks). I like the idea of a two seater where as the G has a small backseat. I also like the fact that I can get the Nismo 19's installed at the dealership along with other Nismo parts like floor mats, shift knob, etc. Can this be done through the Infiniti dealership as well? I plan on modding the car. Not forced induction but NA mods like intake, exhaust, cams, etc, etc. What is your take on the two cars. I know this is a G forum so your a little biased.

Test drive both. The G felt more solid while the Z felt more nimble. The breaker for the Z for me was the lack of back seats. If that doesn't bother you, it basically just comes down to speed or luxery. you can't go wrong with either, but I think the G just looks more money while the Z looks more racer kid.

I was going to get Z but then I drove the G and my mind was made...I went with the G, that was 3 months ago and I love my G. The interior is a lot nicer on the G, the Z did feel a "little" faster but not much. I use it as my everyday car so I like it, now that I have a phatbox, my hour commute is alot easier.
Test drive both, I drove the Z about 4 times and the G once...you do the math

I just noticed on the Nissan website that they are having a Grand Touring model in 06 that has the Brembo's and everything the track model has along with leather and everything the touring model has. That is very tempting as I can have the Nismo 19's installed at Nissan and still have brembo's and leather.

i saw a yellow Z on the freeway the other day... it looks awesome
if i would have got the Z, i would have gone with yellow. something that stands out.. but hey i have a CB coupe. they are both nice in thier own ways.. how old are you ? under 28 and you have a better chance of getting away with driving a Z. |

I would have bought a Z if I did not have 2 small children. I loved the 300Z I had when I was your age, and wish I had kept it as a third car. Like others have said, the Z is more tossable, but the G is more stable and easier to drive. Also, like others have said, the Z is more boy racer and the G more stylish. Your young, get the two seater, you have the rest of your life to drive more practical cars.

The 2+2 set-up has, traditionally, been cheaper to insure than a 2-seat sports car. Not sure how the real-world numbers actually compare.
Something to keep in mind: You should have no problem getting your Infiniti (or Nissan, for that matter) dealer to install NIMSO parts on your G. So the dealer-installed NISMO parts/accessories shouldn't factor into your choice as much. Pretty much the same NIMSO parts are available for both cars. Check into it first if that's a driving factor in your descision.

You get more for your money with the G35-- I think they Z coupe has more style if you wanna drop cash in your car.
My sister has the roadsta'-- I've got the G--... If you want a nice car with speed-- get the G, if you want the speed with flash-- get the Z.
