Reasonable price for the GT-R
Assuming the following is true for now:
2008 Infiniti GT-R, VQ33DETT 470hp, AWD, 3400lbs, 2+2, leather interior, performance between 911 and 911 turbo, 20" rims. What do you think would be a reasonable price to sell the car? |

I hope Nissan hasn't forgotten the 90's and how the last gen GT-R did in dealerships. It's nice and all to have a car to brag about to other companies, but recent Nissan success is all attributed to pricing strategy. The Z and G are both reasonably affordable sporty cars that breath life back into Nissan. The subsequent platform sharing strategy allowed Nissan to lower cost and boost profit accordingly. I am hoping Nissan will see the light and sell the GT-R at a reasonable price (less than $55k) while still offering reasonable performance (better that 911, equal that of Z06) but not trying to stretch themselves to compete with the true exotic sport cars.
CUT COST!!!! No need for all that carbon fiber on the front end of the car. It's ugly, it's expensive, and it's not very durable for a daily driver. If they wanted to save weight, then get rid of those 20' rims that looks like 30+lbs a piece. |

It's not official, but since Nissan is not saying anything, this is the best guess based on what they have announced so far.

It's not official, and there is no pricing.
I will copy/paste what I said in the other pricing thread. "I don't think they will sell well competing directly (as in, par pricing) with an M3. It's like what Lexus is trying to do now with their IS series - pricing on par with BMW has proven to be a mistake for many auto makers. If you want to steal sales in the ~$50-65k region, you need to offer a car that is as good as (or close to) an M3, but costs less. Same with the Z06. @75k people are going to buy those, not GT-R's." I stand by that 100%. There are numerous instances of automakers trying to compete with BMW with par pricing, and in my recollection it has never ended well for any of them.

i agree completely. it would be wise to sell this car at $55 to $60 grand.what lexus did in selling the is for over $40 grand was a mistake. nissan should have learned that when the g and z came out. i really hope they sell it for 50 to 55

That would be a shame too because I don't know if they could get a strong sales volume with it being that high. Now, imagine if they set the rumor for $70k, yet bring it in at $55k. Everyone would think it is a steal! I know I am dreaming, but it can't hurt....... |

Nissan is going to sell the car under infiniti's name because they would never sell a car worth that much.....i bet this car will be in the infinti lots and not nissan

The Z06 may be a great performer, but it's still a GM product. Give me a Japanese made GT-R anyday.

The only $65k+ Infiniti should be the Q45.

if it was rear wheel it would be a GTS not GTR. GTR has traditionally been AWD.

I think you hit on something. Maybe there should be a GT-S model in the future for a little less money.

this car with this spec is not going to be worth more than 55k base and 60-65k max.. it is not going to be able to spoke any competition.. also if this is priced in upper 70-90k range to compete with 911 turbo/viper/nsx then its will be a waste... sources from GM have leaked a 650hp super corvette to be released in 2008 with prototype in jan of 06.. it would destroy anything including the enzo on and around the track..with numbers like 3.0/3.2 0-60 and a pricetag of under 90k if based on the vette else max 110k is body is modified significantly..
