Mitsu 3000GT
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering how does our g auto and manual stack up against a stock 3000GT. What are the potentials of the 3000GT? Is it like a legendary car, such as supra and real skylines, which can be FI to over 600HP and such? |

the 3000GT SL stock for stock wont beat a G35 but VR4 run 13s. Its easily modded and can be FI for 300-600 (most common whp). Modded 3000GT are monsters on wheels if done right. They arent as lengendary as the skyline or supra... but it can hold its own...Never driven one... but heard its best traits are in a straight line... they are so so on cornering.

You should be a little clearer about the Mitsu. Is it the 3000GT SL? If it is, then no, it won't beat a G35 (the SL probably stands for SLow). If it's the VR4, then you're going to get your arse handed to you, as they routinely run into the low to mid 13s in the quarter.

Well I have both cars so I know the answer, the vr4 will beat you everytime unless the driver can't shift but that goes for both cars.
Modified 3000gt's are more common due to the age of the car, mine is around 650hp and does 11's in the quarter. Can they get higher hp out of them. hows does 833 AWHP grab ya. http://pampenamotorsports.com/videos/833.html

The car is said to be the first 9 sec. 3000gt which I think is pretty darn good as it is no Supra
I am content to be a few seconds slower.

I had a 3000GT. Sorry, but that car was so damn heavy......my G would WASTE it. Now, I'm talking stock for stock.
The 3000GT's power/weight ratio was bad. When you introduce modding, all bets are off. Depends on what you do to the car.

I had a little jaunt together with a VR4. I was impressed. From what I could tell, he lost no pace whatsoever to my G. He may have been working harder, or possibly lacked safety margin, but straight out performance was very similar. I can't say how it handled under braking, or on rough roads, but I can say it was impressive.

The funny thing about Pampenas 3000GT is that hes not done with it. I know the guys personally, my friends dad is also a mechanic over there and they are trying to get over 1000awhp out of it. I saw it when he first brought it home from texas, some guys couldnt get it to run with the ECU they put in it so they sold it for cheap. The old red one that he had with 490awhp is the one my friend drives around, it needs a paint job but its still fast. Anyone up for a** whoopin Ill setup the race for you....HAHA

Yeah, the 3000 GT SL's are slow. I beat one in my '96 Ford Contour V-6 when it was stock (170hp). That guy was sooooo pissed that he got beat by a Ford sedan. It was really funny. Something to be said for the fun you can have with a sleeper.
Anyway, the VR-4's are the twin turbo AWD models. Pretty quick, but they are VERY heavy. Around 3,600 lbs. if I remember right. Maybe even 3,800 lbs. The AWD system added alot of weight. Power to weight ratio is pretty close to a stock 280 horse G35 6MT, so should be close race if you launch properly. Modded? Who cares - anything goes with modded versus stock or modded vs. modded. They never quite made it to the legendary status of the Supra mostly because they didn't hold together nearly as well with mods. Supras were easy to mod on the stock bottom end. 3000GT's, not so easy without getting into beefing up the bottom end of the engine. |

3000GT base and SL there both front wheel drive, from 91-93 both model had same hp 225 however SL gets few luxury goodies such as leather seat, infiniti sound system, optional chrome wheel & yes ABS along with auto adjustable suspension. From 97 to 99 the base gets embarrasing 161hp 12valve sohc motor while SL gets 220hp DOHC 24 valve MVIC motor...
3000GT Vr-4 now that's a car, it has 6 speed getrag transmission 320hp TT AWD from 97-99 1/4 13.2...Only bad part is it's not mod friendly, but still it's a fun car to drive....Also, 91-93 all vr-4 had 300hp 5 speed tranmission but it had the aero kit. -Shawn
