Cl65 Amg Vs. C6 Z06

CL65 AMG with flash and 3 inch exh. VS new C6 Z06. roll on, 7 tenths of a mile, from bridge to bridge. start at 60 mph, and come through at 165+.

Stock CL65 AMG info:

MSRP $180,375*

EngineAMG-built twin-turbocharged 6.0L SOHC 36-valve V-12
Net Power604 hp @ 4,800 - 5,100 rpm
Net Torque738 lb-ft @ 2,000-4,000 rpm
Acceleration1 0 - 60 mph in 4.2 seconds

Just to be clear, the CL65 bone stock makes 604 hp and 738 lbs. of torque. The owner of that CL65 stated his is producing 670 hp and 900 lbs. of torque. I think the bone stock Z06 with "only" 505hp fared pretty well, considering.

Yeah I agree. Plus the Mercedes costs over 100,000 more than the Z06. I bet after that Z06 gets broken in the results wil be different.

The Vette only lost by what...1 car length at most? I think it's kind of a shameful showing for the AMG, especially considering it's modded and presumably broken in, where as the Vette was not.

It's a twin turbo'd V-12 against a n/a V8... I would expect a turbo'd V-12 to do much better...

btw... wouldn't a CL65 be 6.5 litres?

Twice? The Z06 is 3132 lbs, so that would be almost 1.5 Z06's.

Why? The fact that it is a twin turbo V-12 is irrelevant by itself. Its all about power to weight ratio and power band. There are many different ways to make big horsepower. A twin turbo V-12 is just one way, and doesn't necessarily mean its the fastest way.

Stick that twin turbo V-12 in the Vette against the CL65 with the same engine, and watch the CL65 get smoked. A Corvette tuner's (Lingenfelter, Mallet, MTI, Cartek, etc.) N/A 427 with a decent cam would also beat the CL65. Most tuner 427's produce 550 to 650hp, naturally aspirated. The 505hp in the Z06 isn't that impressive for what that engine can really do without emissions and fuel economy concerns.

I think it's actually a 6.0 liter and the CL600 is actually a 5.5 liter

come on!!

damn z06 0-60= 3.6

cl 65 0-60= 4.5

i thkn you guys are mistaken. CL55 has the 5.4 liter S/V V8 S600 is the 6 liter V12 and the CL65 is the bi-turbo V12 600's and 55's have a 0-60 of 4.4-4.7 depending on model.
CL65 has 604 hp and 700+tq

also you gotta realize that the V8 is also a 6 liter LS7 not just any regular V8.
also 65 had to be DE-tuned according to AMG b/c the originak 708 hp could not be handled by the automatic tranny, even with the 7 speed
