Personally i could give F about hyundai... I have a G;) (1st week report)
Well its now been a week or so that we've owned the car (hyundai 06 sonata 4 banger GL) total 4000(demo miles) + 240 owner miles
The fit and finish appears good & no rattles. the radio is nicer then our blose pieces of SHT and location is a great spot (high on the dash) Ride is very soft and forgiving... consequently not a race contender like the G space is huge car can fit 4 football players easily or 5 human beings w/o any problems. seats could benefit from some additional side support, but im guessing the entire car was designed around fat people so I understand why there isnt much. the gas mileage was 20MPG. this is with the dealer filled tank and my gfriend with a heavy foot. honestly i expected around 24-26. her driving habits prob account for a loss of 4MPG and i question if the tank was completely full at delivery. gas pedal takes a good depress (feels like 1/4) before it even starts moving and needs 1/2 to move at a normal (not fast) pace. I kinda expected 1/4 to move at a regular pace. dunno maybe the design is 100% correct and my expectations are just different. I understand its not a race car, just thought it was strange to depress the pedal 1/2 to leave at a regular pace. Gfriend is happy, kids are safe, and I dont have to waste time dikin with her jeep.... one thing though i guess she missed the memo about... simple green and paper towels to remove bird doodoo on a new clear coat finish. SIGH UGH WTF. ppp

The Sonata gets very good ratings for a 'cheap' ride.(if there is such a thing these days.
)You've got a winner there. C.

The Koreans are very good at selling the sizzle and not the steak. They know most Americans care mostly about the radio, cupholders, and interior plastic quality, and could care less about how strong the driveshaft is. So, that's what they focus on - the things people see and touch everyday in their cars. Look under the skin though, and you'll see where they cut corners and why the cars are cheaper than everything out there.
I know they've got the initial quality thing down pat, but I'm still suspicious of the long term longevity and crash worthiness of Korean cars. At least you've got a 10 year powertrain warranty. And BTW, Bose does not make the radio in the G35. Clarion does. Bose only makes the speakers. |
