Test drove a 06 BMW 325i

its awesome , was an automatic with stepstronic transmission and the inline V6 engine was superb , must say the engine is silk smooth and much better than the 05' BMW. The dealer did not have any manual transmission , is that not strange that they dont carry manual transmissions

I felt the suspension to be much tighter than the G and the engine was also very smooth compared to the G

Overall liked the build quality and very impressed ... feel like trading the G

What do u all say

The size or lack there of will get to you after a few months. The sedan is really small. I went from a 3 to a G over a year ago. I agree with all of your statements, however. I loved driving my 3.

No doubt the bimmers are nice in their special way. They corner and turn like nothing else. But the 325i is a dog compared to the G. (0-60 in 7.2) I'd only be happy with a 330i, and then you're talking $45K.

And yes, as 2Aims states, the 3-series is still very small in back. I can comfortably fit four adults in my Sedan, but the backseats are very cramped in the 3's.

I still vote G #1 in "bang for the buck".

Agreed that G has more value for the price thats why i bought it but after i drove the BMW i had the feeling of a very compact and solid build car and extreme smooth engine which i do not get in my G.

Also till date i cant feel the 298 hp of my G , it doesn't seem to me that i am driving a 298hp car , maybe u guys will disagree , in a nutshell i felt the bimmer as a class of its own

The BMW is definitely the ultimate driving machine. The price is the only thing that's holding a lot of us back. I mean, a base 325...is reasonable and does come with the "free" scheduled maintenance built into the price. But if you want options like leather, xenons, sportspackage, etc etc....it adds up like crazy.

And the base 325 is equal in price to a g35 with a few options on it, not to mention the g35 has got more HP and what not.

The "Free" Scheduled Maintenance is not what it may seem it does not include tire maintenance so the only thing the free schedule Maintenance covers is oil changes and with the BMW the oil changes are at 15K mile intervals so that is 3-4 oil changes for free.

Jeff92se-
Inline Six's are all the rage? (I assume you did not mean inline *V*6's) If you mean that the BMWs get praise for them then I agree. If you mean that automakers are installing them in a large number of vehicles (either defined by quantity built per model, or across model lines, then I disagree.

The only other straight six I know of was in the IS300, and that has gone away with the IS250/350.

Are there any inline sixes in production for 2006 besides BMWs?

I`m still trying to picture an in-line V-6. How do they do that? Bend an in-line 6 double, or straighten a V-6. Smart people, those Germans!

Or "I6" if you want to shorten it.

Only the 330 compares with the G35. I drove the 325 and could not bring myself to purchase it over the G35. Lack of power and options for the same price as the G.

I don't think the the 330 is worth the money once you put all the options on that you want. Especially the AWD. You are spending another 10,000.00.
The 330 does handle well though. If the G35 and the 330I AWD were priced the same, I would have gone with the AWD 330.
