Too much Competition...

I have a 2003 G sedan, and when it came out it was king of the hill in the 35k price range. Now every grocery getter sedan has equal power and acceleration.

Pontiac GXP has 300+ hp
New Jetta has 280hp
IS350 does 0-60 in low to mid 5's
Even the POS Hyundai Azera has 260+ hp

Don't get me wrong, I still love my car....I just wish our cars could hang with the IS350 in a straight line. What will Infiniti have to do to regain the first place spot?

^lol at this guy^
Pontiac GXP has the ugliest old *** interior as it always has
The jetta, i dont know about that one
The IS350 costs $7000+ more than the G
and dont even get me started on the Hyundai, it has 260 hp but did you look at the torque??

The G has the first place spot, it's just the magazine guys are obsessed with the BMW (plus it cost's $5,000+ more than the G) therefore its not first place in there eyes.

There is no competition for the G in it's price range

i am playing dude but seriously, only close match would be IS350 but not quite.

As with anything, the competition catches up. I am still happy with my G inspite of all the other faster cars.

My buddy just bought a Chrysler 300c SRT. that car is hella fast but it a big ole lumbing car and I would never trade the nimbleness of my sedan for it.

Don't forget the next gen G35 debuts in the spring. I'm sure Infiniti will up the horsepower and 0-60 times to match if not surpass the current IS350, while creating an even better interior than the current model. Let's just hope the keep the base entry price near 30K.

Well, according to car and driver the g35 has aged nicely compared to it's 2 main arch rivals; the new Lexus IS and the BMW 3 series. And I agree with them. As a bang for your buck the G35 wins, hands down. As far as handling and overall driving experience the BMW wins as usual, right now as far as speed, the IS 350 is king...but not for long. I hear BMW has plans to replace it's 330 with the 335. That's right...a 3.5 liter 6 banger, and if it does really come out it should be faster than the IS.

The next generation G35 is going to have some tough competition, but I'm sure it's going to have a lot of power, nice redesigned interior/exterior and a good price to keep up with it's rivals.

Damn......in retrospect my G'X' is only about .5 sec slower in the qtr. than my 69' Hemi RR was. Doesn't diminish my love for that car (or it being worth over $200,000 now either..heh) Shoulda, coulda, woulda...lol. Can't be in the "cat-bird seat" 4ever. jbx

It's funny what is happening in the industry right now w/small to mid-size marquie sport sedans w/V6 engines - it's almost like what is going on in the sport-bike industry w/the 600cc class. This is where most of the innovation and intense competition is.

Better for us

Front looks hot like the M - but the back looks like a Dodge Charger or a 2 door Chrysler Sebring.

...I'll take it

I think all of the credit should be given to the G35...I mean that's the car that has made Lexus and BMW get off their butts and produce better stuff.

And competition is always good for us, the consumer, right?

335 is not 3.5 liter 6. It will be a turbo charged 3.0 carrying the designation of 335.
