G35 vs Pontiac GTO

I know, the GTO would wipe the floor with the G35 because it is a V8 400hp sob. I test drove this car twice, and I must say I am impressed. The catbacks sounds like rocket boosters when u gun the engine. The sales guy and I took it on the 90 freeyway near Marina Del Rey, and i was glued to my seat. I hate to cross over to the dark side, but maybe I could add it as a second car. Anyone drove or heard about this car?

Have no new stlying and looks like a Grand Am/Prix. The GTO probably doesn't handle corners as well as the G35. I found that most American vehicles are made for straight line racing.

I'd buy a GTO but only because I'd get like 10% of my money back when I sold it 5 years down the road. Man can those cars hold their value!

I thought about it, but I couldn't get over how ugly and plain it looks. IMHO it looks like a Chevy Cavalier with hood scoops...

The GTO has a IRS and handles great. It's not technically an Amercian car since it's made in Australia. It's a bargain in my book where you get a 400hp vette motor and all the performance for around $32k or less. Fuel mileage is only a little less than a G, not that great but still not bad. The looks are bland but I rather have it than the Vette. If anything, it's the perfect sleeper. If I wasn't so set on getting a G35, I would of got one myself.

Great motor - no 5 or 6 speed auto tho, just a lowly 4 speed and no sunroof option. Handles well and power is obcene.

I'm saying the car is the best but considering that it was made by Holden in Australia . . . but I wouldn't buy one.
Just like Pontiac to buy someone else product and slap Pontiac GTO on it.

THey didn't have to buy it. Holden is a subsidiary of GM - It's GM - Down Under

Never buy GM brand new sorry. When my friends graduated from college they all took advantage of the GM college programs that were big back in 2001 and now they are kicking themselves because they can not get out of the cars even the zero percent finance folks from 2003 are complaining because they are so upside down in their GTOs, CTSs, and Trailbrazers. A 400Hp engine may be fun to drive but if you don't plan on keeping the car until it falls apart leave it on the lot.

The first car I bought on my own was a 94 Ponticrap Formula. I think I paid in the mid 20s for it. When I traded it in 4 years later I barely got $6K for it and that's after I had spent $2K the previous year on new headlight motors and other various "typical wear and tear items (like slave and mater cylinder)." That was the last GM I ever bought.... until I met my wife and she insisted on buying a Saturn Vue a year ago.... {hangs head in shame}....

Its not the greatest looking car. I think they are discontinuing them or tone-ing down the hp's after this year, so it more or less will become a collectible like the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's did.

unless you plan on keep it forever, leave the american cars alone.
they are having a hard time selling cars, even with crazy discounts, so i doubt there will be a market for used american cars.
