Dodge Going Retro

Yes, with the 2007 Dodge Challenger. I just finished an article saying that Dodge needed to compete with Ford's retro Mustang, and how much success the new Mustang is having. ( Chevy is doing the same thing with a new Camaro concept, but they always seem to be a day late and a dollar short.)

Getting back to the Challenger, these two pictures are strikingly similar to the 1970, 1971 Challenger. These are the only two pictures that I have seen, other than an artist's rendention, and I really like it! I know, "To each his own," but I personally have admired the original Challengers.

Early rumors state that this new Challenger with be available with both hemi versions, the 340hp, and the 425hp matched with a 6-speed trans and a pistol grip shifter. Just like the old days.

Just from what little I have seen of this car, I can tell you that I may be the first one in line to purchase this bad boy. Chevy's concept of the new Camaro seems to have the retro 1967, 1968 front end. I have only seen scetches of the Camaro, but we all see in time.

Here's two pics of the new Challenger beside two pics of the original 1970 R/T.

I can't say I am all that fond of it, however I do like it miles above the Magnum and Challenger.

I wonder if Infiniti in 30 years will come out with a retro G35??

I think you mean, "Magnum and Charger." That's ok. It was insurance premiums that killed these cars back in the day. It's nice to see, to me, our automakers going back in time, to furnish us today with cars that were popular in an earlier era. Most would disagree with a retro concept. Depending on the model, I'm all for it! I wasn't knocking Chevrolet by any means, but I wish they would take a better look and quit making "Rental Cars."

I fear, knowing Chevrolet's past, that their new concept Camaro will be a front wheel drive, 2-door coupe, with a small V8. WRONG!!! HELLO IDIOTS!!! I can almost see that coming. Almost like that new "wanna-be" SS Impala. (Joke!) And GM wants to know why they are in trouble. How about building cars that people really want to buy? How about going back to a full size, 2-door, (or even a 4-door) massive V8, asphalt pounding killer machine, and quit building rental cars? I really wish they'd get it right, just like the old days. Give me a REAL SS Nova, Camaro, Impala, Monte Carlo, etc. and maybe I can do business with you.

It looks like, soon, that we will all be in for some "pony" car wars!" I just thank the man upstairs!

Thumbs up

Whao, stop the press... Now thats retro beauty. I like it better than the current Mustang. Now if GM would bring back the 68'-69' Camaro SS in a retro looking RWD. Now were talking. I would like to see GM get back on track in building a new Buick Grand National GNX

I like the new Challenger. Looks good. I've seen the Camaro pics before. Looks like a bad photochop to me. I'll wait till I see a real picture of it before I make a judgement.

All I can vision with this new Challenger is, "Kowalski." Maybe I will be the next "Kowalski" to attempt a 15 hour drive from Colorado to San Francisco. Maybe I can finish what he wasn't able to. lol!
