this thing is crazy fast 420 to the ground
I was reading over at drivesrt site and I was looking up info on the jeep srt-8 and read this:
Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT8’s snarling big-block 6.1-liter SRT HEMI® V8 engine puts 420 horsepower to the pavement (or dirt, mud, and rocks) through an exclusive electronic full-time four-wheel-drive system. The result? The quickest, most powerful Jeep vehicle ever created.
http://www.drivesrt.com/en/jeep/gra...okee/index.html

What caught me my attention on that is that I can put 420 horsepower to the pavement (or dirt, mud, and rocks). So the jeep is off-road capable? I was assuming it wasn't due to the power, suspension, and the 20 inch wheels.

Yeah they're touting this as the US rival to the Porsche Cayenne. We will see...I imagine one of the magazines will do a head-to-head test.

A lot of power that'll make the POS transmissions made by dodge fail even quicker.

I would assume that if Jeep made it...it's got to have "some" off road capability. Maybe not as much as their other models like the rubicon, but just a little.

I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, ahhh brings back memories. The rear seats folded down and well, there was a huge area back there.

But honestly, Jeep doesn't make a bad car. Since they merged with Benz....Chrysler has actually gotten a lot better.

I haven't researched your statement....but from my understanding Jeeps are pretty durable cars. I used to have one that I beat the CRAP out of, and it didn't give me any problems. Not to mention I see old Jeeps around all the time.

there's a new cayenne turbo s:
520 hp (SAE) @ 5,500 rpm
0-60 mph: 4.8 sec.
Top Track Speed: 168 mph

it's crazy what they're doing with suv's these days.

Still a Jeep.
Which means terrible resale value and reliability. Bad Investment, not that cars are a good investment.

Jimmy, id double and triple check your "420 to the wheels" statement.

The article i read said it had 420hp driving all four wheels - aka - this isnt a dyno reading, its just a hp number and note that the vehicle is AWD.

I would be willing to be this thing isnt throwing down 420whp on a dyno.

I hope im wrong though

Black 22 inch iforged or HRE on this puppy? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

According to this study by JD Power Chrysler scored a tad above average...so it's not great, but not terrible either.

BTW, Infiniti scored #6 on the chart, and of course Lexus was number 1.
