New Chevy Camaro

Another old school car coming back...

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/09/d...amaro-concept/

400 hp V-8 that can get 30 mpg highway... Now that's just cool.

That concept looks awesome. I like the headlights and interior. There are a lot of nice retro touches but overall it looks like something new. Looks promising but I have to wonder if GM is really going to make it like that. In the past, the Camaro could not have equal or better performance than the Vette. The Camaro also has to be affordable like the Mustang GT. I would expect 350hp from the Camaro at best and much tamer looks. What would be cool is to have a base v6 with 250+hp, the Z28 with 350-400hp, and a true SS with 500hp to compete with the new Shelby. I doubt that will happen but I think that's what GM needs to do to compete.

I never liked the look of the '69 Camaro, so i'm not feelin' the new one. I do like the bulging rear quarter panel though. That is sweet.

I look at the front of the Camaro and Chrysler Crossfire comes to mind.
If I had a mullet I would be in love with the car!

I think it's exceptionally hot. This will be on my short list (along with the GTR) for 07Q4/08Q1.

Challenger is way hotter. Also, the Camaro's interior is a JOKE!

Personally, I'm not too sure on the styling myself. It appears that Chevy is trying on the design, but I think they're missing it. The body just looks too busy, with somewhat of a bizarre appearance. With the retro Mustang, it still looks like a Mustang. The Challenger, which imo is drop dead gorgeous, is almost a carbon copy of the original. But with the Camaro, I see very little retro, but notice more space age/futuristic appeal than anything else. What I do like though, is that Chevy will have a 6 liter, 400hp powerplant beneath the hood.

IMHO, Chrysler got it right on the "updated retro" image of the Challenger. As soon as I saw it, it rekindled the love I had for classic musclecars during the early 90's.The "Camaro" looks too fake, not retro at all. It doesnt inspire anything other than looking the other way. Yuck.
