2007 Toyota Camry vs Infiniti G35 Sedan
The 2007 Camry is going to have a 3.5L V-6 (dual VVIT) with 268HP and 248 ft-lbs. One person on the ToyotaNation Forum is saying that it will beat a G35 0-60.
I commented that the G35 has more HP and torque plus can come in a 6-speed manual and will bet the Camry. The Camry SE will weigh the same as a sedan G35. I had to support the G's. The styling of G's are still gracefull and clean looking even than the 2007 Camry. Last edited by Msedanman; 01-12-2006 at 11:46 AM. |

I have had a few camry's. I think the 07 camry is pretty ugly. The best camry was gen 3 (07 is gen 6). I use my camry as my commute car/beater. Its a v6, got about 180hp but seems zippy. Toyota does pretty well with engines now days. My 2002 Lexus RX300 also has a 3 liter v6 and it puts out about 222hp and about the same in torque. Its geared such that it really moves off the line, but its an suv so it has its limits.
Even if the new camry was faster, its not as sporty. Suspension, feel of the wheel, sound from the engine, overall near-lux, etc. This damn horsepower war is getting anoying. Everybody is so insecure about every little comparison. How often do most of you need to race anyway? my gen 3: 93 V6 XLE (3VZ-FE)

The G has more hp and torque and will probably be lighter - so you tell me.

It seems like everyone is forgetting something here.. the Camry is still FWD... slam the gas pedal down on each car and you tell me which one you would rather be in. The new Camry is nice and I don't dispute that but it's in the same league as the Nissan Maxima, not the G35.

+1 Even if the 07 Camry could beat a G35 (which it won't), I really couldn't care less. These are two different types of cars intended for two totally different markets. I mean really, how many 60 year old Camry owners are gonna want to race you?

fwd, front weight biased, and too plush a suspension will not beat the g35....especially with the above mentioned specs.... hp wars and mag racing getting out of hand...
i'm still using my 6spd 2k2 max for daily commute and still dread the mad wheel hop on a heavy first gear launch... the camry is for a different market... |

WHen i was buying My g few months ago, my dad wanted me to buy a camry, and i started cracking up cuz i can never picture myself driving a camry. Its a nice car, but its a old man's car. I dont feel that car from any angle, although the new look of camrys are nice but i would never think of buying them.
who cares about the hp, althought we all want more hp, but for everyday driving 200hp is good enuff v6. ofcourse people always want more for no reason. What are people going to do with all that hp? they can only use it when racing but other then that, its useless... |

Why do people make off-base comparisons with the G35? Because they are jealous. "My SRT4 will beat a G35". Maybe, but you're still in a Neon. A Camry is not in the same league as a G35 sedan. For $26k, I'd rather buy a used G35 sedan than a new 07 Camry.

the more power (especially torque) you have, the easier (quicker) it is to pass slow people both in the slow lane and like most of california, at least, the fast/passing lane.... uphill climbs challenges the weaker v6's as much as they do the 4-bangers... both my max and g35 have no trouble climbing 5%-7% grades on 5th gear with plenty power to still pass slower climbing cars even with ac on.... i've driven and ridden in 4 banger civics and in sub-200 hp rental v6's and boy you gotta downshift and wind that motor way up just to maintain constant speed and make sure the ac is off.... if what you say is true, we wouldn't even need v8 sports cars cause v6 powered sports cars should suffice... heck all we really needed to go 60mph is 15 hp.... Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.... |

BTW, ide like to add something, when the new G sedan comes out, its not gonna have 298 hp on the 6MT, the horsepower wars are raging, the is350 has 306 in an auto. like most people on the coupe concept threads say, it will probably have between 310-330 hp. so FWD big sedan with 268 hp (i think thats what yall said) vs a 6MT rwd sedan with 330 (
) hell the goddamn is350 can bow down too.
