"Igo said the current-generation G35 coupe remains in the lineup for at least a year, while the G35 sedan will be replaced after this model year."

For those of you who canceled your '06 order in hopes of getting this for '07 will now have to wait until at least '08.

well most people knew the 3 series body style was changing last year...including me..and the reason why i bought my G35..why drop 40K on a car that will be "old" in 10-12 months time? hence the sales drop

infact the sales person (friend of family) insisted that I don't buy the E46 330 because of this...value will drop like a rock....the decline in sales was expected as the final year of production was coming to an end for that model line-up

Wink Pinoy, way out in Connecticut?

On a different note...

Hey "Pinoy", I didn't know any Flips lived out in Connecticut. I thought we were all in CA or NY/NJ. Any good places to eat out there or do you get homesick for some home cooked meals?

I'm a hop skip away from Cerritos (little Manila), West Covina or down south in National City. Tons of places to eat. Can't imagine CT has a ton of Flip places to eat...

I'm not sure what they are talking about. Have you ever looked at resale values for Bimmers--for the most part, you might as well buy a new one rather than a 1-2 year old because they hold their values like crazy--new model coming out or not.

Well, the G35 coupe has been one of the top value holding cars in the past few years, so it's pretty safe to assume the E46 coupes won't hold their value as well as the G35 coupes because of the expectation of an E90 coupe... but it may be a good time to get a good price on a new E46 coupe.

you can't go by what the resale value is. If there are many sellers and few buyers for the bimmer, seller will definitely drop their prices like crazy just to get rid of it. Look at the BMW 740 and also the 01 M5.

exactly....+1....E46 "value" is not what the E90 is going to be....hence people were pushing off purchasing the E46 platform to hold out for the upcoming E90 in 10 months or so....so the sales figures have some underlying factors for that year....

You could be right or it could be that people buy G35s because you can get 330 performance for the price of a 325.

Thing you might want to consider about the G's reasle vaule, the G still new, there arent that much G on the used car market yet, wait another 12~18 months, when the lease returned cars hit the market, I dont know how many were been lease in 03 but I would guess around 5~7k of them out of 23k, so when they flood the market with that much G coupes on top of the trade-ins and private sales and then we will see if G still kept their vaule as good as others...As far for the E46's coupe value droping or not? that will depend heavily on how much they got off from MSRP on the 06's, in 03, you are lucky if you are able to get 500 off on the G coupe and now? you see they go for near invoice all year and that cant be good for the resale vaule of the 03~04's.
