My IS350 ran 13.703 in 1/4 mi today

I went to Houston Raceway Park this Sunday and decided to try the 1/4 mi strip for the very first time. I rolled up in a Base Model 06 IS350 w/ no modications except for some walmart floor mats and tank being only 1/4 full. I had a total of 6 runs, here are the 1/4 mi times:

Run 1 - 14.656
Run 2 - 13.860
Run 3 - 13.707
Run 4 - 13.847
Run 5 - 13.703
Run 6 - 13.731

Here is the breakdown of my best run (#5):

R/T ... .470
60' ... 2.084
330 ... 5.790
1/8 ... 8.845
MPH ... 81.18
1000 ... 11.473
1/4 ... 13.703
MPH ... 100.37

On the first run, I had ect power on and traction on. The 2nd run, I had ect power on and regular trac off (which turns back on at 20 mph). On the 3rd through 6th runs, I had ect power on and did the special vdim cheat w/ trac off all the way. I only used a very slight power launch since I am still new to drag racing. I have copies of all my timeslips and will try scanning it sometime this week. My friend also took videos of all passes and it shows the 1/4 mi time achieved on the display board at the end. I believe I can improve a bit on my launch, just need more practice. My ultimate goal is to match or beat gaijin's 13.686 run sometime soon. Watch out!

those are very good times. The interesting thing that caught my eye was that it only traps 100mph which is about what G35 6MT traps.. But i guess they are fast 2nd and 3rd gear.

Yeah. The mph is a good indication that the motor is putting out about the same amount of power as g35 6mt. But the gearing is steeper on the IS and that allows a faster takeoff, hence the really good timeslips.

Any dyno graphs of the new IS350 online anywhere?

That's very impressive. Impressive 60', impressive 1/8th ET and Trap, and a very impressive 1/4 ET.

It appears you're only gaining around 19mph in the last 1/4. Is this a function of gearing, or the car's top-end?

Excellent! I am impressed by those times. I would think the times will only get better with time, as the car breaks-in.

I knew those suckers were fast when I test drove it. Very impressive numbers, especially for an automatic transmission.

it looks like someone else already did a 13.3 in an is350. he has a custom exhaust and removed some weight. not too shabby.. check this link: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/show...7&page=1&pp=15

I've been following that thread for a few weeks. Someone over on my350z posted a link to it.

That car is proving to be quite capable. Can't take anything away from it. Makes me jealous actually.

So his curb weight is now in the 3250lb range. I'm unclear if that includes him or not, but regardless, that's quite an accomplishment. I wish I could shed 250 pounds on my car. I guess I could, but I don't want to gut the car of sound deadening and such.

I'm most impressed that he dyno'd at 279rwhp. Do you have any details about the dyno? A link possibly? That's very impressive. That should put to rest all of the g35 apologists the question of if the g is actually making as much power as the is350. Not even close.

I echo trey's observations and have one of my own. EPA mileage estimates and feedback from members on lexus boards, that thing averages 22-24mpg, automatic. Fricking impressive. Gotta go test drive one of those things.
