05 used g35 sedan or 04 TL w/ A-spec Pkg.
I realize this is a G35 forum, but I would really like some honest opinions.
Thanks in advance! I am in the market for a Luxury-performance Sedan and am considering two choices. 1. A 2004 TL/ Navi with A-spec pkg. Asking price $28990 Firm. 28K miles. -Certified W/warr to 7yr. and 100,000 mi. Likes: Awesome looks Blk w/ tan leather interior. Killer looking 18" Aspec rims and factory body kit. Outstanding cond. Killer Navi System... The best I have ever seen. Sweet looking interior. Acura quality. Dislikes: Front wheel drive. 2. 05 G35 sedan, 18" rims, prem. Pkg., Spoiler Pkg. 21K miles. Asking $27,900. Likes: Engine, Handling,Interior. Dislikes: Exterior look is aging IMHO. What is important to me is: Fun to drive. Acceleration. Quality. Looks. And also Prestige Factor. Please dont suggest that I buy an M or something else. I dont want to spend 40K. I have narrowed it down to these two cars only. Which car would meet my desires the best? Thanks, Randy |

if you like to drive a little more aggressively then i would go with the g...fwd=boring
the interior of the tl is very nice but the exhaust tone has nothing to the g's. the g is quicker, handles better...its just a better drivers car...the tl is more of a luxury sports sedan whereas the g to me is a sports luxury sedan...hope this helps |

TL loses IMO because it's FWD. If it were RWD I would have bought one.

well my mom drives a 04 TL and my dad drives a 06 G35x. I think that the G35 is funner to drive by far, but I agree with you the TL does look a little better IMO. But all in all i would go with the G, you will have a better time driving when your out.

Your two most important criteria are the fun to drive and acceleration. The G35 is simply a better designed vehicle for sport than the accord derivative TL. The G35 is faster and its almost perfectly balanced. BTW, the G35 offers better handling WITH a better ride over bumps due to its VASTLY superior suspension setup.
I would go for the TL if you live in a snowy climate and are a dashstroker. |

Acura is slipping in the quality rankings due to tranny issues. Infiniti ranks close to the top though Lexus is usually ranked highest. As someone said before the TL exhaust note lacks any sort of sporty tone. I was walking to my car at work when someone started a new TL and I couldn't believe how plain it sounded. I think the TL may look a little better, but the G has some nice angles. If it was a bit wider and the rear bumper had more of a "waterfall" effect I think it would be perfect. Like everyone says, the G is the sport sedan and the TL is the luxury sedan.

the only thing i like about the TL is the looks (compared to the sedan of course) but you can always put a nice kit (like the WALD) on your G and it will be VERY nice...

I also had the same predicament when i was buying my car, TL vs. G35. In the end it came down to the G having RWD. The TL has too much FWD understeer, not as quick. Both are nice cars but if you want prestige factor, i'd rather say i drive an infiniti than an acura. When i think of infiniti i think of luxury and performance, when i think of acura, i think of an integra, it might just be that i am biased now but whichever you chose you'll be in a nice ride.

IMHO, I don't think you'd get bored w/ the G. It clearly has good acceleration and is fun to drive/handles well (which falls under your "likes" category under the G). I notice you didn't really put any driveability comments under the "TL"....and it may be for obvious reasons....you just don't think the TL drives like/is as fun as the G?
Not sure. Also, it seems like you're overall impressions w/ the TL are appearance features. IMHO, all of the TL's I see on the roads are driven by the 40 yr. old plus club (not meant in a bad way for those of you over 40 ) and G's by the younger AND older crowd. Just my $0.02. The only thing I'm unimpressed with on the G is the interior quality....and the rattles/squeaks that many of us have experienced/had to deal with....some members are squeak/rattle free....others have cars which are possessed. Mine is on the fence (partially possessed) but I wouldn't trade it in/get rid of it for this reason, as there are so many other positive attributes to my G.

I agree with jimmyc13. The only drawback to the G is the interior, but you won't get bored of driving it, and I would not get rid of it either for anything else at this point. Then again, the only thing I really like about the TL is the interior. I've driven quite a few of them as my friend has a TSX, and usually gets TL loaners which I get to test drive. Interior is nice and comfortable, but the ride leaves something to be had. If you're not pushing it hard in the high RPMs, it's no different than driving an Accord. On the other hand, the minute I start up my G and hear its exhaust tone, I completely forget about the G's interior and am ready to drive!
