Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

Are the new BMW models getting fugly or are they designs you start to like after a while? What market are they going after ? I used to like BMW cars.

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

yeah.. i read somewhere that they got rid of the old designer, and brought in a new one.. it all started with the 7-series, then the Z4, and now all the upcoming models.. if you saw them, they all have similar characteristics to the 7-series and Z4.. i personalli don't like them, but think they're pretti unique.. but yeah, BMW is definitely changing their looks drastically..

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

Blech.
I used to think BMW's were gorgeous - not anymore!
If I'm not mistaken, one of their chief designers was either stolen by, or defected to Lincoln (designed the new LS). Every new BMW since then (including the Anders Warming designed Z4) is disgustingly ugly, IMHO. BMW is going to hell in a handbasket. Their technology applications may still be among the best, but now the package it's wrapped in is N.A.S.T.Y.!!!

Maybe it's just me, but are they now copying Mercedes' slope as far as the front end? It seems to me that with this redesign Benz has finally taken the BMW vs M-B battle...Just my opinion...

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

Yes they are ugly. To me, the 745 looks more like a quarter-to-eight.

I'm not a huge fan of the new styling. I sincerely hope they take a stylistic U-turn before they grow more than eyebrows and a snout.

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

I think most of the new BMW's designs are ugly, the possible exception being the X5. The new 7 series is ugly, the upcoming 5 and 3 redesigns are just as bad.

I had always wanted a BMW, and the current 3 series is a nice looking car but there are so many of them on the road and the G35 just gives more car for you money. I thought maybe my next car after the G35 would be a 5 series but after seeing the upcoming 5 re-design there's no way I would want one. So now I'm hoping that the rumors about the M45 re-design being a great car are true so I can just stick with Infiniti and know that I'm smarter than all the lemmings.

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

BMW has lost its edge, Now if the competition comes up with some decent looking, well engineered cars, the tide could turn quite quickly.

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

Even though that BMW’s new designs suck, they’re coming out with faster more powerful BMW’s.

Re: Are BMWs getting Fugly or what?

BMW's new pen, Chris Bangle, has stirred up some serious sh... with his defamation of Bavarian beauty, to the point where I read that they may be undertaking a crash redesign on the butt of the 7 series, it's so ugly. However, he has managed to get it almost right, once. Check out the Six series coupe, to arrive next spring. Uhhhhh, just me, or does it look a lot like a certain other coupe with which we are all familiar??? And the mags are reporting predicted performance near identical to the G coupe, at twice the price.
