Loaner.Do I Pay Gas?

So I'm having a bunch of stuff checked out under warranty today. The dealership scheduled my apptmt a week ago and for a loaner.

So I get there this morning at 7:50AM, and apparently they had no more loaners. So they paid for a rental car for me (monte carlo)...finally an hour later the car came and I was out of there.

Now am I expected to fill the gas back up? If I had gotten a loaner, am I supposed to fill the gas on that? I'm only driving about 20 miles today, and that's it.

Just some loaner noobie questions

Wow that's great customer service! Sorry to hear about that Dave. I wouldn't give them one red cent. Then you should let them know what they cost you!!!

At my dealer the loaners are FULL when you get them, and I usually return it with whatever is left...

You should bring it back with what it had in it, no more, no less (or at least not too much less!).

Looks like some of your dealers don't care. Mine marks the gas level on a sheet and tells you to bring it back at this amount. I have had loaners from the for a morning which I did not put gas in and also for over a week which I did.

I got a full tank of gas on a loaner, and I filled it up when i returned. Be responsible.

Depends on the dealer. Some charge a flat rate, some have you refill what you used.

Its not a matter of being responsible, its a matter of the dealers policy. If they told me to return it full, then of course I would. My dealer does not require that..

my dealer requests 15 dollars each loaner use for gas, no matter how much you use it although more than half the times I've had a loaner they haven't charged me.

At most dealers and all rental cars you have to pay for gas. You are suppose to return it at the same level you got the car at or they will charge you for the gas+surcharge..

Some dealers will just give cars out almost empty and then let the customers fill it up to what they need. In this case if a previous customer didn't use all the gas they put in you get it for "free."

Yeah I think I was trying to figure out if the dealership doesn't charge me for gas on a loaner...which is what I am supposed to get, then I shouldn't be charged anything with the rental (or the dealership should cover 100%).

They asked me to bring it back with what it had in it, I did.

Yes, its the responsible thing to do.

They wouldnt pay for your gas anyways, and we're lucky enough they do loaners. Many manufacturers dont, or only do to the scope of the law....
