Acura TL
my buddy has an 04 TL and he's looking for some rims to get, and he was on acurazine forums and he found some rims, and i looked at them, and they look good but i noticed that they were staggered
Shouldnt staggered rims go on a RWD car?? it looks good and all, but doesnt the cars performance suffer?? ![]()

Staggered rims can go on any car with maybe the except of AWD cars. On a RWD you want the rear to have the wider ones and on a FWD you want the front to have the wider setup. However I'm guessing that TL owner just did it for looks and put the wider ones in the back...

Not all RWD vehicles come staggered.

99.9% of the time, it's for looks. Even for RWD cars. In a FWD application, the wider rear wheels actually might help make handling a bit worse as more rear grip is applied. This makes a typically understeering FWD car, understeer even worse.
But again, most don't care or even drive that hard to even notice a difference. Car looks great though. The new TL is one hell of a looker |

yeh thats what i figured but i wasnt sure. Yeh the car looks sharp, but when i drove his car once, it just didnt feel sporty, it felt like my old 1988 olds delta 88, the car was just all over the road, not like the G it goes where you want it |

That is probably one of the best looking TL ever. Those rims complement the car very well. Gives it a husky/muscular appearance.

Always been a fan of the new TL in black but I see it being lost in the crowd now that the mainstreams are coming out with more performance in their fwd cars. On top of the new redesigns from BMW/Lexus/Infiniti. Hopefully the pressure will force Acura to rethink the fwd drivetrain. TL owners are putting staggard wheels on their cars it's pretty common.

wat you can do on FF is to get same size wheels/tires, but have
the rear wheels have more lip than the front. (while maintaining same offset). |
