350z vs G35
this is a question that im always thinkin......y is that when we mode our car the same as the 350z....like I/H/E......it gets more power then our G35c wit the same mode.....i understand that both cars have the same engine, they should be producin the same power...but i kno that the G35c weigh more then the 350Z... when draggin i kno we well lose....but my question is y dont we get the same power as the Z?
for example: APS TT: G35c = 405whp 350z= 450whp |

who says we dont? It's the same engine so there is no reason why a 350z engine is producing more hp except for the z tube.
A 350z might be putting down more on the dyno maybe bc the smaller wheels compare to the g35 19s. |

depends on the tuning and other factors

Gravity & Physics
It's simple... the Laws of Gravity and Physics.
Consider the "wet weight" of each vehicle... (add driver weight) Consider the HP/TQ to total weight ("wet weight" & driver weight) ratio... Less weight moved by the constant energy factor (same HP/TQ) will always cover the same distance more easily... in other words - quicker. |

the reason y this was brough up was that i read and heard about that 350z alway beatin a G by 3-4 lenght with the same mods... i kno it depends on the driver too

as i understand it, the automatic g35 has CVTCS on the intake side as the 6mt has CVTCS on the intake and exhaust side
that could be the difference if you are comparing the auto g35 to a 6mt 350z |

hmm thats really weird, ive gone up against quite a few 350z's when i only had a k&n filter, z tube and I havent lost to a 350z yet...
all except maybe 1 or 2 that i went up against were modded.. more than mine anyways but obviosly not to much since they lost |

Is the Z-tube bigger in diameter over the OEM one in the G?

This makes no sense...
With the exact same mods, the G and Z should be producing the exact same power. Only because both a G and Z have an APS TT does not mean they are configured exactly than each other (ie. different boost). Weight, on the other hand, falls in favor with the Z. But it isnt going to beat a G by "3 or 4 car lengths" just from 150 lb difference. You need more research! And take that as a good thing; we all need more research. . |

I raced a Z from stoplight and beat him by 1/2 car. We were about dead even, We even shifted at same times, and I have the 298 hp rev up engine stock. Easly could of gone either way. Many factors with diff drivers. Seems to me that weight is only difference, and the extra hp seems to make it up. Maybe mods making more performance on z has to do with G motor already tuned up or z motor tuned down for those extra 20 hp. As far as reading Z's always winning races or g's always winning, just depends which forum your in. Not too many people gonna proudly post getting their doors blown off, Yet some people live in dream world, such as a post I read about a g out running a z06. I may be wrong, just my take on things.

The 350z has a one piece carbon drive shaft, the G35 coupe has a two piece driveshaft. Im guessing we lose some power to the wheels because of that.
